I've been goofing around with CyberMage: Darklight Awakening (interesting Doom-like FPS from Origin). Man,I haven't played that in like a decade. I broke out my disc a while back to rip a disc image for a friend and haven't gotten around to firing it up. It's up there with Realms of the Haunting for "DOS games I really, really want to go back and replay but just never seem to get around to doing" Shit, I'm only halfway through my Terra Nova replay, too. Been slacking...was going to upload replays of every mission to YouTube and just kind of got distracted. 4 years ago. SHIT. Right now I'm balls deep in Yakuza 3 and it's pretty excellent. I wish the load times were better; you'd think that with a mandatory install you wouldn't have all of those loading hitches before a battle starts, but at least the overworld segments are nice and seamless. I guess my next big wish for the series is for seamless entering/exiting of buildings. Add that in and the loading of the fights won't bother me none. Actually, I think I'm just spoiled w/ the fight loads because of how incredibly quick it was in the second game when it was installed to the hard drive. Yakuza 3's loads are about as long as Yakuza 2's were when played right off the disc. Oh well! Love love love the game. Regarding all of the complaints about the cut content: There's so much to see and do that if you didn't know in advance about the stuff being lobbed off, you'd never realize anything was missing. It's quite a mammoth game and considering how little time the team actually had to localize it (GG Sega!), they did pretty excellent job. Sucks Sega's PR is woefully incompetent and thought it'd be a good idea to insult their fanbase (GG Sega!).

At the moment, I'm playing through Pokemon HeartGold. I haven't bought it yet, so I don't know what the PokeWalker stuff is about, but as for the actual game, it's, uh... It's Pokemon Gold. Not too sure what else can be said about it, really, other than it's awesome. But you knew that, because it's Pokemon MOTHERFUCKING Gold. Anyone else playing this? It'd be nice to have someone to trade and such with, as all my friends who were going to play through this decided otherwise.
Somewhere on the back burner I've got Phantasy Star 0 (grinding for levels and materials to try and beat the fucking impossible last boss, what the hell), Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes (Mostly just playing a few matches here and there, it is a puzzle game. Also I want my knights back, zombies fucking suck), Digimon World Dusk (probably going to drop this one until I can get out in the country somewhere, much too grindy for regular life.), and Gargoyle's Quest on the Gameboy (not too much to say about this one.)

Currently playing quite a few games. I just got Disaster: Day of Crisis for the Wii and I couldn't keep my mitts off of it. Had to start playing as soon as I saw the opening cinematic. And after playing it for about forty-five minutes, I literally want to go to Japan and choke-slam anybody who didn't play the game and caused Nintendo to never bring it to the U.S. shores. This game is bloody amazing, and despite not looking shiny and new, it's still the funnest game I've ever played solo on the Wii. I love how when you pick up a hamburger pick up it's larger than your head, how the shooter segments are set up (it's almost like a rail-shooter!), and how the disaster survival part is (spiritual sequel to the Disaster Report franchise).
Also finishing up my final playthrough of Dead Space on Impossible for my final trophy. Pretty fun though the increased difficulty is making me nervous of running out of ammo and supply. Plus, it's taking more bullets to take down the necros.
At the same time I've started to platinum Legends of Wrestlemania. Already, half-way done despite the fact that I started less than 2 days ago. It's pretty fun and plays unlike any of the other wrestling games I've played in a while. Very arcade-like. Me and my brother had been waiting to pick this up since we had SvR '09 from which you can import wrestlers. The wrestlers themselves from the game are really neat, though a lack of masked Kane and wrestlitas like Chyna, Mae Young, and the Fabulous Moolah prevents it from being perfect.

Im having some sort of Pokemon fever right now. I'm playing Pokemon Blue, I've been reading a lot of Bulbapedia (Excellent Pokemon wiki with itsy-bitsy info) and I downloaded the first season of Pokemon anime. Its like 1999 again.
Also, for the first time since purchasing the game since it was released, I've found the Professor Oak's lab in Pokemon Stadium very useful. I can easily list pokemon's to see who's strongest or fastest or whatever, and give new moves without having to fiddle and move around TM's and HM's on computer.

Been putting it off a bit. I wanted to show my support for the game, though, so I decided to get it before I was ready to play it. I played the demo, though, and I'm afraid I'm going to forget (literally) 90-95% of the character's names and what happened... as well as how to play it. I used to be really good at 1 and 2 and loved playing them, but playing this demo was an awkward experience with several deaths. I think my anxieties will dissipate once I start playing again (I seriously adored both the first two games), but some reassurance, if you have any, would be great.

Right now, I'm playing Flotilla and Leave Home. Pretty soon I'll move on to Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising. At one point, I was replaying Chrono Cross; maybe I'll get back to that one of these days. - HC

I used to be really good at 1 and 2 and loved playing them, but playing this demo was an awkward experience with several deaths. There's two nice recap videos that you can optionally watch at the start (much like the recap video of the first game in Yakuza 2), off the main menu, or at any time in the pause menu (broken up into 4 individual chapters each!). There's also a really awesome graphical relationship tree in the pause menu that shows how everyone is related (so and so swore a blood oath to this dude, this dude totally admires this dude, this dude is the lieutenant of this clan, etc). If you click on their image, you can read a full bio on them. I. Love. This. Game. Heard the demo was kind of screwy since it locked you at the basic level of combat and you couldn't do any of the really fun stuff. Chucking people off of bridges, slamming milk crates on their heads, knee capping them with golf clubs...god, this game is wonderfully brutal.

Still playing World of Warcraft, but I'm also playing Aion.
Offline wise, I'm playing Dragonball Z: Attack of the Saiyains on the DS, and still have a bunch of characters to unlock in Cap vs Tat on the Wii.

I'm glad to hear this, but if it's not too much trouble could you tell me how easy it was for you to get into the game (combat-wise)? Or maybe if you could try the demo and tell me if it is at all awkward for you? I know for a fact I was good at both of the first two games, but I did so badly in that demo I have this creeping paranoia I've suddenly started sucking at the game and might not enjoy Yakuza 3 as much as I should (despite having distinct and relatively recent memories of loving the hell out of 1 and 2).

Playing some Blazing Lazers. I remember Kitten saying something good about this game? It's pretty daunting to choose from all of the shmups on Virtual Console, but this had the most bad-ass name so I chose it.
Also?
Final Fantasy 2. Pretty awesome. Named Cecil "Ziggy" and Kain "Kamen". I might change that, but they're starting to stick. I'm only like 2 hours in, I just found Rosa sick in a bed or something? Damned if I know wtf is going on.
Crash Bandicoot. The original is freaking blissssss! It gets the imagination going like it's nobody's business. I'm hanging around the end, but I hate having default lives when I restart, and with the massive difficulty of the last island (Lights Out is one of the best levels in video game history) I'll need to grind for lives. I'll go about unlocking the secrets and getting all (or nearly all, you don't actually need 100%) of the gems to see the extra ending after I finish the game.
And then? NUMBERO 2!

Blazing Lasers is called Gunhed in Japan. It's based off a movie. If you manage to beat it, it's got one of my favorite ending credit tunes of any game (it's very bizarre sounding and doesn't really fit in with the rest of the music, though).
If you like it a lot, you should really play Gun*Nac on the NES, which is very similar in how it plays. I'm not sure if that got a VC, release, though. You would probably also like the Star Soldier (Soldier Blade, Super Star Soldier, Final Soldier - in order of which I think are best) games on the VC, as well, as they play somewhat similarly.

Right now I'm juggling a few games. Mass Effect 2 - If this game were a lady I would make out with it. And never stop. Bayonetta - Mostly I just pop this in once in a while to kick a little ass and work up some rings Halos. I haven't beaten it yet. Miles Edgeworth - On case 4. Very pleased with it so far. I figured it was probably gonna end up being a "budget" Ace Attorney, but it's pretty well fleshed out and can definitely hold its own when placed up against the other titles in the series. I might even go so far as to say that I prefer Investigations' format. Shining Force CD - I just started book 2 and I'm on the 4th or 5th battle. Deanna is adorable :3 Valkyrie Profile 2 - My PS2's kind of in a state of limbo right now since I drag it back and forth between two rooms. This game is far and away the best looking PS2 title and could easily pass for an early-to-mid generation PS3 title. I try and squeeze in at least a few minutes of play time when I can, but the long stretches between save points make it difficult to make progress before I have to put the game down for some reason. Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen (PS1 ver.) - I hooked up my PS1 last night to play a little bit of this. I think I'm on battle 8 or 9. Lunar: Silver Star Harmony - A beautiful, worthy remake of Silver Star. Only bad thing is the loading times, but they're absolutely forgivable. Also, Luna actually has a personality this time. Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance I'm about to throw this game at the wall. Fuck this castle. Arrrghhhh

Playing me some God of War 2...some people prefer the original over the sequel, but I like 2 a lot more. Looking forward to playing 3 (just found out that Kevin Sorbo voices Hercules...LOL).

Oh really? I had heard of Gunhed before, but I didn't know it was the same thing. Nifty! Hopefully I do manage to beat it, although it doesn't seem very hard so far. I've not even put much time into it yet, so I haven't continued and I can consistantly beat the first level sans losses. When I add the free lives into the occasion I'll be done in no time flat. Thanks for all that info! I'll be sure to check out those games. It has a really nice Turbo-Grafx look, one that I'm definitely coming to love, like some kinda 8-16-bit cross breed. I remember hearing about their being a processor or something for both types on the TG16, actually, so maybe that's what lends itself to the look. What about the Aleste series? Is that similar in any way? (And is it just me, or is power up III the best there is?)

The game gets difficult toward the end (the last stage is pretty hard) and you also have limited credits. The difficulty curves upward quite a bit, so don't underestimate it. The only Aleste game I've played is MUSHA, which isn't really all that similar. They are both Compile games, though. The most similar game to Blazing Lazers, as far as I know, is Gun*Nac, which is also Compile. If I could only recommend to you one shmup on all of the Virtual Console, though, I'd recommend Axelay. That game was a bit of an acquired taste for me, but I adore it. I also strongly recommend Soldier Blade. There's really a great selection on VC, most anything R-Type or Gradius gets an obvious recommendation (though watch it, but the SMS R-Type and TG16 R-Type, despite being very good, limit your credits quite a bit, I suggest getting R-Type Dimensions off of the XBLA or R-Types off of the PSN instead).
