www.hardcoregaming101.net/shivah/shivah.htmWhen I first heard about this game - a crime solving rabbi! - I thought it was supposed to be comedic. It isn't, but it's still a damn good game. It's quite short too, making it a nice, quick playthrough. It was independently developed and initially released for free, but after winning an award or two, they created an enhanced Deluxe edition with voice acting, which is surprisingly good, and sell it now for $5. It's worth it.

This game actually got a mention in the real press on CNN. It was one of the late, great Manifesto Games' best sellers for a long time.
I enjoyed it when I played it back in the day... Definitely worth the $5 I spent on it.

Huh, this actually looks really interesting.
I think you meant "guise," here, though (I always feel like a jerk when I correct these, I hope I don't come off as one. Corrections are welcomed/encouraged, right?).

An even more deluxe edition was released in November. The new Kosher Edition has much nicer graphics it seems, as well as updated music and new voice-overs. Anyone played it? Article could probably do with a update about it.

There is now an Android port of the Kosher Edition. Much like the droid version of Gemini Rue, the game is virtually untouched, save for two major additions to better suit the touchscreen. Firstly, you can show all interactive objects on screen by tapping and holding the touchscreen for a few seconds, and secondly, tapping an object brings up two verb buttons (look and use) that are enlarged to make it easier to hit them. The achievement system from the Steam release remains.
As of this week, it's currently a beat the average reward in the latest Humble Bundle, which gets you both the PC and Android binaries.

I still need to play it, I picked it up on Steam when it was on sale, partially because the game synopsis sounds like the setup for a joke and/or comedy move, kind of like Kane and Lynch.

Wow, finally got around to finishing it and........ it feels really weird after playing several other wadjet eye games. I mean there are really no inventory puzzles.. I finished in 45 minutes or something like that though and was like..what? Already? And what really still amazes me with those games are the achievements. why? Oh, and I think it is a bit too easy for the most part... It's neat enough for the 89cents I payed, and the voiceacting as well as the new graphics of the non-free edition are worth it. But, yeah, after all, later games from this publisher tend to be way more substantial experiences. It's nice to see pont&clicks alive aigan.
I think the article would benefit from some screenshots and comparisons of the newer, commercial version.
