Games that you hate

Just talk about games that you really hate. Kinda like in Cranky Gamers. Just for fun, go into some detail too. Also, talk about games that people might not expect. I mean, everyone can probably figure out why you hate Quest 64 or Shaq Fu.
Donkey Kong 64
I used to love 3D platformers and this game ruined them for me. There was a short amount of time where I thought Mario 64 was the ultimate in gaming evolution as a matter of fact. I didn't think games could get better. I devoured Mario 64, finding all 120 stars and had a blast doing it. I did the same thing later with Banjo-Kazooie, which I thought was a massive game. Hell, I even played TERRIBLE stuff like Chameleon Twist.
Then in 1999, Donkey Kong 64 came out. I was initially very excited, Donkey Kong Country was able to revive interest in the SNES in 1994, maybe DK64 could do the same thing for the N64. The ad campaign pegged DK64 was a massive experience, "Too big to be a movie it said." It certainly looked that way, it came with a 4 meg RAM pack just so you could play it! However, previews of the game looked skeptical, they said it looked like the game would offer nothing new to the genre. I didn't care though, a few days after Christmas, I bought DK64, installed that stupid RAM pack and fired it up.
I started playing, it was an alright game. The graphics certainly weren't blowing me away, nor was the gameplay. I had fun until the 3rd level. It was some factory area populated by near impossible to kill Kremling robots. It hit me there. This level, has massive, confusing and most of all, boring. Worst of all, the game doesn't let you pick up items belonging to the other Kongs, so you basically have to play through each dull level five times. I wanted to throw up. Each level was just a bunch of crappy minigames(like the one where you chase beavers into a hole!) connected by tunnels. DK 64, didn't have the spark or innovation that other 3D platformers had. Rare spent some much time making the game massive that they forgot to make it fun.
I eventually beat the game, only getting enough items in each level to proceed to the next. I finished the game with like a 50 % and didn't touch it again until I sold it 3 months later. I haven't been able to play a 3D platformer where you collect a million little doodads since. Damn you Rare!
Grandia II
Whereas DK64 ruined platformers for me, Grandia II nearly ruined RPGs. I got the game for Christmas in 2000 when I was 16 years old. I was still in the stage of my life that I thought RPGs were the greatest genre. Bar none. However, the fact that I owned a N64 instead of a Playstation really put a cramp on this obsession. However, I had just bought a Dreamcast a few months prior and I was psyched to be able to finally play a quality RPG on a next-gen system.
At first, I thought I was in high school nerd heaven. Grandia II DOES have an excellent battle system, one of the best actually. And, Oooh, there was voice acting! And anime character designs! Ooo, FMV effects during battle. A plot of suspense and intrigue!
However, as I played more and more, the game left a bad taste in my mouth. The battle system was fun, but it never really challenged you either. Plus, you could really exploit it. The only boss fight I had trouble on was Melfice. My main beef with the game is the story. I hated the characters, especially Ryudo and I especially hated the ZOMG GOD IS DEAD LOL AND THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS EVIL LOL story of the game. Especially after I had seen similar things in Breath of Fire 2 and other games. I really, really, despise that kind of religious symbolism in games.
I never wanted to play an RPG after Grandia II, but fortunately I came across Skies of Arcadia one day. To this day however, I still can't play RPGs like I could before Grandia II. They gotta offer something unique, something lighter, something more fun. Like Paper Mario.
