Not only is this surprisingly good music for what ultimately wasn't that great of a game, the composer really hasn't done much else, outside of some other licensed games. [edit] If anybody wants an MP3 of the full song, www.box.net/shared/6kzgxvk9ug4xv1qfau0u - I took the two portions of the song from the USF soundtrack from Zophar's Domain, played the backing part for one loop, then layered the piano part on top of it. For some reason, the USF soundtrack does not feature both together from the start - this took quite the feat of audio mixing. =P

Agree with you on Chelnov (that game is absolutely classic) but not so much on the rest.

BlazBlue, Vimana, Thunder Force III-VI and all Touhous after the PC-98 era with the exception of PCB & IN which also suck music-wise.

Ya know, I actually really like the music from Super Monkey Daibouken. I think the overworld music captures the feeling of a long, lonely journey. And the battle music is pretty catchy. That's not to say it's a very good soundtrack, considering, as far as I've heard, there are like 2 songs. Of course, my experience with the game is just watching a few videos, and I expect that those two songs would grow old.
I couldn't find the music isolated, so this will have to suffice:

I actually really like Socket...but I realize it has a ton of flaws. That said, the soundtrack is incredible; one of the best on the Genesis/Megadrive. For some reason, I completely forgot to vote on it in the top 1000 poll.

Done by the same guy(s) as Battlemania Daiginjou and Decap Attack, from what I can tell. Wonder what happened to them, they did excellent work.

Your mileage may vary on Sword of Vermilion, but you can't deny this: It has the best Sega Genesis soundtrack of any pre-Sonic the Hedgehog game on that console. Ever.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: A game about The Flintstones doesn't DESERVE to get music this good. Seriously, it sounds like something you'd hear in Unreal Tournament.
Also, most people who've played a lot of Genesis games will realize that most games that aren't from Japan have terrible soundtracks. There are exceptions, however. Most notably Matt Furniss, who composes pretty much every single Genesis game made in Europe.
This sounds like something that would fit in a Space Harrier sequel.
Dude even makes Zool sound good. Zool, motherfucker, Zool.
Also, while Mortal Kombat 2 wasn't a bad game (in my own opinion), this song was on the 32X version, so... close enough. It's my opinion that this had the best music of ALL the MK2 ports. This song actually really did scare me when I was about 11.

Bobinator: That Flintstones music is amazing!
That was honestly the only good thing about the majority of Ocean's SNES games: the music.
And yes, Matt Furniss' work on the Genesis (and the 32X if we count the MK2 and Pitfall ports) is pure awesomeness.

SimIsle gets very special recognition from me - the entire game is basically an abortion with a pretty severe lack of gameplay, but the music, composed by Harry Holmwood, is all really damned awesome. What particularly stands out to me is that Mr. Holmwood really didn't get to compose for any other games through the rest of his career, aside from a few other DOS games. (That's if Mobygames' rap sheet can be trusted - they've been wrong many, many times before.)
