Last few movies I saw where Seventh Moon (Chinese Ghost Movie starring American Actor directed by a Hispanic person), followed my Mothman (Cheap Sy-Fy Knock-off, not the awesome Lynch one), and finished off with Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (Can't Get enough of King Caesar).

I saw Dogtooth last night, an incredibly weird Greek film that doesn't seem so weird in the end as it finally makes sense. It's incredibly difficult to watch at times, thanks to how inhuman all the characters are along with some fairly brutal scenes (I don't recommend it to cat lovers), but it's sometimes quite funny. It's about a man who keeps his adult children and wife locked up in their large home in the middle of nowhere and has it surrounded by a huge fence, he warns them about how they should never leave too. One day though he brings in a woman for his son to have sex with, and being an outsider, she causes things to go a bit awry. On paper it sounds like something that could be done mainstream, and it probably could, except this is done in the most unconventional manners, creating something that honestly made me feel like I had been played along by the end. Just a quick thing, might want to change it to "watch" instead of "watched". Anyhoo, my wife and I just saw the Rifftrax version of The Room. Well, "saw" doesn't quite describe it. It really was an experience. For anyone who likes bad movies, I cannot recommend this "film" highly enough. The Room needs to be seen exclusively in a theatre with others, you will be doing yourself a MASSIVE favour.

Neco z Alenky could have done with being remastered with the budget made to use Tim Burton's one and released in 3D for a real mindfuck.

Just watched Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. I thought that the plot was really good, and it was a cool cool movie. The subtitles on my copy however sucked balls. I need to buy the DVD now so that I get the last guy's ending dialogue.
My least favourite part was probably all of the little girl titties, but I didn't mind the grown up titties one bit (except the dead ones. that was gross). However, my actual least favourite part was that at the end it quoted something from earlier in the movie so that we knew who these guys were. We already know, I don't think viewers are that dumb... Apparently, Park Chan Wook is though...
I know that it is like, normal, in Asian countries (at least Japan and Korea, because I've heard from friends of both nationalities this is true) that women are with girls and they can be naked, for bathing together and stuff.
I don't mind it in anime, because that's just animation, but I felt kinda bad for the little girl who had to be shot shirtless... Like, I know I wouldn't want to be filmed naked as a little boy! O:

Fast and Furious, and Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. I hate to say it, but Michael Bay really impressed me with Transformers 2. He managed to make a movie that was infinitely worse than the first one. Fast and Furious is exactly what you'd expect, and since I came in with zero expectations, it delivered precisely that.

I watched two movies last night:
Lupin III: First Contact - Really enjoyed it, though it was a bit slow-paced at points. Still, it kept me watching, and I spent a large portion of time laughing. The second action sequences started, they were not only awesome, but usually also so over the top you were cracking up. And the mix of jazz and blues they used for the soundtrack was nice.
50 First Dates - Not a bad movie at all, but a bit sad when one thinks about it overall. Still, some good jokes, some gross ones (as per usual with Sandler) and somewhat cute. Not sure I could watch it more than once due to the fact it is a bit sad, though.

Just watched Golgo 13 - The Professional... Holy shnook. I'd love to see Kyouki's thoughts on this, it seems like a movie he'd quite like. Damn. Golgo 13 is basically a perfect masterpiece and sits side-by-side with Fist of the Northstar, Vampire Hunter D (1985), and Akira in the hall of legendary anime. If you've seen all four of these you have exhausted all that anime has to offer and it is time to move on to 1970s Japanese exploitation movies, like School of the Holy Beast.

50 First Dates is the uninteresting version of Memento. That ending was completely implausible.

I've got Fist of the Northstar sitting on my computer, but I'd really rather watch it dubbed, so I'm going to download a copy like that.
I'd love to own Golgo 13, though. That movie is extreme. Everything is awesome, I swear. And the thing is, people comment on how aged some of those shots are... nothing hasn't aged well, even the 3-D, because it just exudes a coolness. Like, "Hey, I'm better than your shit". Too bad that now, 3-D isn't even a special occasion. As a matter of fact, if your aircraft in an anime isn't 3-D you've got a really good budget. Sad fact...
I still want to see Vampire Hunter D, the novels always sounded awesome. And the movie sounds cool too. I was told it sucked, but that made me want to watch it more. People have weird expectations for plots now... not even that plots need to be overly complicated. I don't mean when people talk about things like that (which people do a lot). People forget the raw thrill of a bad-ass. People forget that a good story is good enough.
I like the way that in Golgo, you get to see multiple story arcs all strung together. Super high-octaine. Rather than one big plot with a super enemy at the end. I mean, there was a "boss" but he had his character development, and he even knew what he was doing. I dunno, there's just some things that people call "stupid" now that is unfair. Because I'm sure if I showed Golgo to some of my friends there'd be the people who'd say it sucks.
Like I said, the last movie I saw was Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. That was good.
Lined up I have: Lone Wolf & Cub - Sword of Vengeance; Fist of the Northstar; Friend; and Ninja Scrolls.

Whether or not the ending is implausible doesn't make it good or not, Jason. What makes the movie bad for me is a few things. Firstly, I hate Drew Barrymore. I just hate her. She seems so... smelly. Secondly though, I thought the jokes were lame, and I didn't think it was cute at all. And yeah, it was depressing when you think about it.
And I guess you're right. The ending was implausible. Normally, this doesn't bother me too much, but it wasn't even made awesome and ignoring sense to make it better. It was just sappy and poobutt and still didn't make sense. How lame.
(pardon my writing, I've not had coffee and my brain is mush-pie)

Trust me, if you like Golgo 13, you are pretty much guaranteed to like Vampire Hunter D (1985). The recent Vampire Hunter D movie looks gorgeous but is awful.
Fist of the North Star is best dubbed! Streamline did an awesome job at that. You are doing the right thing waiting for the dub!
[edit] Ninja Scroll! That's another awesome one!

23. It's a film that isnt too bad, the plot twist is a touch obvious but gets twisted enough to keep it enjoyable.

Pino: What's the dictionary describe anime as?
As for Vampire Hunter D from '85, what you may end up hearing if you showed it to people who've been on the internet too long, is that D is a total Gary Stu. The writer of the novels (of which I've read 3) wrote him as almost impossible to stop, attractive to men and women, and nearly perfect in everything. Still, it's a fun little movie, with very nice animation (Yoshitaka Amano if you like him did the designs not only for the book covers but the movie as well), and it follows the older Vampire theories more closely than most vampire movies I've seen in years.
As for 50 First Dates, improbable or not (what was improbable anyway? PM me the answer so we don't spoil it) I enjoyed it pretty well. Unlike Smithee, I actually love Drew Barrymore (I hate Cameron Diaz though, so watch he'll like her ~.^), and I like some of Adam Sandler's work. The only issue with the ending for me was the fact it IS rather depressing if you're the kind to analyze things at all. If not, then you can just enjoy it as fluff.
