Hi. I was wondering if there are any other 8 or 16-bit video games that feature a character creator similar to Cocoron? I know quirky is kind of an ambiguous term, but what I am looking for are games that have a bit of a similar way of designing characters, with easy to use (but maybe also a pixel editor) tools and funny possibilities (like Cocoron where you can have a skullhead and a cloud as a body). Thanks in advance. Edit: Or if anything besides 8 or 16 bit, then anything 2D and sprite-based.

Cyborg Justice (a Mega Drive beat 'em up) lets you customize your robot warrior with different leg, torso and arm parts. I'm not sure if I'd call it quirky, though.

There's that Neo-Geo game I've always wanted to play, I can't remember it's name. It lets you make a robot and then enter him into battles, It's a sort of pokemon clone with customizable robots. Biomoter Unitron!!!! I remember it now. It might be what you were looking for.

Does the character creation in Madden 96 count as "quirky"?

Or Powered Gear, for that matter?

From what I've heard, Fire Pro Wrestling games have pretty good character editors, like a 16-bit version of current games editors, which you could use to make guys like Haggar and Strider Hiryu.

Rohga has this in spades. It's a sidescrolling arcade shooter not unlike Contra only with mech customization. I suppose you could call it a proto Armored Core.
