For the past few weeks I've been playing a special ROM hack of Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari EX (the Japanese version of River City Ransom EX) designed by Miracle Kidz. I've been posting about it in the "what are you playing now" thread, but I think it deserves a separate thread. I seriously don't know how this ROM hack managed to stay under my radar for quite some time.
The ROM patch was originally included as a bonus with River City Dodge Ball All-Stars, the semi-official sequel to Super Dodge Ball they released back in 2007. If you wish to support Miracle Kidz, you can still order the game from Amazon Japan.

Officially dubbed Parody Ban 2007 Special: Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari EX ("The 2007 Special Parody Edition"), this ROM patch adds several new moves, new items, new weapons, new characters, new events, new areas, new hidden shops, new music, and even a new side-quest. Your character starts off with more special moves than they did in the original GBA game and some of the enemies (both, bosses and grunts) have new attacks as well. It's what the original GBA game should have been. It's a bit glitchy at times though (the characters randomly change faces momentarily when you have four characters in your party), but still very playable.
Here's a video clip of the ROM hack, along with several screenshots I've posted.
