It's not officially up (i.e. front page hasn't been updated) but I uploaded the files late last night, so barring any issues that need to be fixed, it should be up in its entirety, including an exclusive interview with Richard Garriott.

The Complete Ultima 7 has been just released on GOG. The info about availability on page 14 has to be updated.

Fascinating article. I've never played an Ultima game, but have several friends that liked the series enough to build machines to run IX when it came out (much less beat the damn game), so this was interesting to me. Anything come up during the research for the article about his haunted houses at Brittania Manor? I lived in Texas during part of that time but never had the money (or ride) to check it out...tickets started at $200 IIRC during the 90's. BTW, he's selling that house Britannia Manor II for 4.1 Million: www.realtor.com/blogs/2011/10/26/richard-garriott-lists-britannia-manor-ii-photos/

Just read the whole thing and I had to pop back in here to say that this is probably the best article I've read on this site. So much great info, goes so deep and overall reminded me how important the whole series is to the gaming (and not just Ultima 3). Huge props to the writer.
I also liked Derboo's investigations on Ultima, Wizardy, Black Onyx and Origin on JRPG's.

It really threw me when they decided to call it the "Gold Edition". I suspect the majority of people familiar with Ultima will not even be aware that a "Gold" edition even exists.

I had briefly wondered if they'd found the lost expansion pack, but it turns out all they mean is that they include the Speech Pack.

Anyone know how to create a Blank Player Disk for the original Ultima on Apple II? I've tried a variety of explanations found online, but nothing seems to work.

Have you tried pressing ESC after you inserted the player disk from whatever archive you're using?

I created a blank disk using DOS 3.3 to format one. Which didn't work at first. Anyway, thanks for the tip, I eventually got it working with the archived "Disk 2" that came with Disk 1, by pressing ESC.
Simple things, eh?

It certainly took me long enough time to figure out (the manuals I've seen also don't mention that you need to press ESC btw).
