hg101.kontek.net/lastactionhero/lastactionhero.htmRead as Audi breaks himself in this Very Special Kusoge segment. (I wish I had thought of that when I updated the main page, better go back to that eventually.) I never played this game and only saw the movie when it was in the theaters, when I was like 12 and probably didn't even fully understand what it was parodying. How could I? Most of the conventions it was paying homage to were from R rated movies I wasn't allowed to see, but Last Action Hero was PG-13.

This was posted on the Game Boy part:
"So does Last Action Hero on NES have any redeeming qualities not found in the SNES or Genesis games?"
It should say Game Boy instead of NES there.
I laughed really hard in this part:
"There's also some neat stuff like Arnie being picked up by a chopper at the first stage, but it makes no sense because in the next scene he enters the school from the front entrance anyway, which basically means he flew up like halfway and went "Wait, I want to go through the school, choppa man, GET DOWN", and then carried on."

Nice. I like more self-reflective articles. This one should be categorized alongside my Demolition Man/Judge Dredd, Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan articles. In fact, there should be a campaign for articles about games based on shitty ideas/movies that inexplicably enticed us as children.

The thing about the Sega CD version having digitized sprites and FMV backgrounds makes me think it would have run on the same engine as this.So yeah, we REALLY probably weren't missing a lot.

Especially since Sony Imagesoft and Psygnosis (if they count) were also involved with it... yeah. As for the SNES/Genesis music, it isn't that bad. I too used to think that the Last Action Hero and Terminator 2 SNES/Genesis music sounded way too similar (at least the first level music of both games)

"Arnie... didn't want to be associated with violence..." That's exactly how I reacted after reading that. I mean, he was known for violence (in his movies) and now he didn't want to be associated with it? Didn't he only make one non-violent movie after Last Action Hero before doing action movies again? Jingle All The Way? And there was also Kindergarten Cop before now that I remember.

It was weird seeing the pics of the Sega CD version in the article...EGM had a tiny picture in one of the early '93 issues, and it looked almost identical in style to Bram Stoker's Dracula on the Sega CD. Fascinating stuff toward the end of the article.

"You wanna be a Farmer? Here's a couple of acres."
Well, someone had to say it.

I have a feeling that Arnie himself prolly didn't hear diddly squat about these games, and that the statement came from "his people" (All the big stars "have people")
