Absolutely interested. We've got someone working on an article for the whole series, which I'm sure would increase awareness as well.

I'd bought the games on saturn years ago since there's a translation/walkthrough on Gamefaqs, but it's not very easy to play that way and actually enjoy it. This would be great if there were a translation project going.

I'd love it if this happens; I lack a Wii or PS2 for the only one in English and even then I hear from everyone that the previous ones were better. Plus, I can get through the moon in, say, an SRW game, but not something with as much interaction as an ST requires.

Thanks for all the support! Right now I'm aiming to knock together a quick test translation of the first chapter by the end of the week, as that ought to give a good indication of whether or not it's feasible and what problems we'll face if we decide to go ahead with it. At the moment we're still sort of puzzling out things, and are inserting text by quite a clumsy means (manual line breaks, limited space for messages, and all that good stuff that official translators of videogames in the 90s had to suffer through :'D), but so far the chances of producing a working patch are looking pretty good. And I'm super-excited. ^^ A couple of screenshots of said test translation, if you're interested: imageshack.us/g/24/saku12.jpg/YES. A MILLION TIMES YES. We already began preliminary work to do it ourselves, so uh, consider that you beat us to the punch. Collaboration, maybe? Aww, sorry for jumping the gun. I wasn't sure if your group would go ahead with it any time soon, and it's a game that's very dear to my heart. ^^ Since it's kind of a dream project for me, I'd rather be a bit selfish and translate it myself if that's okay with you. :'D But help would always be welcome in proofreading / testing. And also with the technical side of things. While I'm comfortable with translating, neither my friend nor I are hugely savvy with romhacking-y stuff, and we've come as far as we have basically through trial and error. It'd be great to have somebody more knowledgeable to turn to if we hit any serious roadblocks. Well, I'm fuzzy on my Russian*, so I'll gladly leave that to you. (*I don't speak any) I'm more than happy to help with the trial and error stuff(though honestly I'd be ecstatic just to play it!), and the hacker who's helping me on Shikigami will almost certainly be glad to assist as well.

Haha. No no, I wouldn't trust my Russian for translation either. :'D I can just about make sense of the language, but my vocabulary is shocking and I make grammar mistakes every other sentence. Plus it's not very nice to translate from a translation if you can avoid it. Our actual translation is from the original Japanese. We've just cannibalised parts of the Russian version because it's already been hacked to behave with Western fonts, and is considerably less nightmarish to deal with than the Japanese one. Anyway, thanks so much! That's extremely kind of you and your teammate. I hope you enjoy the game when it's eventually finished! If you wind up helping out with proofreading and testing at some point and haven't played the game before, I'll try and get files to you in a semi-polished state so you don't completely spoil yourself with cut off lines and glitches. :'D Nice work on Shiki, by the way! I had no idea there was a retranslation (if that's the word, being that it wasn't exactly "translated" before) project on the go for it, but it's a game that badly needed one. It seems like you're making really good progress, so I hope all goes well in the last stretch~

Ah, that's good. I was a bit worried about the J~>R~>E barrier myself. And I have played the game, but in raw Japanese with a script, and I never finished it. (I own the Saturn version.)

Where's Peter when you need him? He's fluent in Japanese and Russian, and used to be mega-hardcore on importing.
