I was listening to archives of my favorite radio show, and they had played the sample in one of their bits, and I couldn't believe it. That reminded me of 'Funky Dealer' and set me on a mission to find that sample. The sample can be found in the Mark and Brian show's Historical Inaccuracies part 2 and starts at about 1:45. This bit seemed to have the raw sample from wherever it came from. Although I didn't think I would get any result, I decided to shazam search the audio and surprisingly came up with a result. This sample is in the start of the song 'Timequake' by Sonus Umbra. Unfortunately I could not find an audio sample without signing up to any websites. It may not be gaming music, but I just wanted to let you guys know two more instance of this sound sample, and hopefully help find where it came from. Nice find! I'm guessing both the Historical Inaccuracies clip and Timequake are both using samples from a sample library somewhere, rather than being the original, but it's great hearing that it exists in even more places. Trying to find the source for these things is truly a labyrinth! EDIT: Finally got around to updating the opening post! It's crazy that it was back in 2012 that I started looking into this stuff. I'm glad more craziness keeps turning up, I feel like there's tons of re-used voice samples scattered throughout a lot of games!

Nice! I didn't know about these, mainly due to never playing either of those games. I've added them to the opening post!
I think that's the crazy thing about these raps, the ones that people are familiar with seem like common knowledge, even when they're often completely unknown to other people. I know I certainly got blank stares when I tried to tell people about the 'magical mystery scene' rap as if everybody recognised it.

That same sample is also used in "Music Video Orchestra" by Omodaka. (Not a video game track, but it's still connected to VGM-- Omodaka is a side project by Ape Escape's Soichi Terada.)

I can't find the link to it now but the rap that appears in Einhander and Ar Tonelico is from a royalty free sample CD. I saw it come up in comments on youtube about it and a link to a video with the entire sample CD on it.

Just found another shared sample, in looking for other tracks from the same DJMax composer as the one linked above: "Yo, I'm the hottest girl around...Roxanne and these beats..." Capsule - "The Time Is Now"DJMax Ray - "Put 'Em Up"I figured it was probably from a sample library when I heard the Capsule track, but yeah, this utterly confirms it. Especially since the DJMax track cites the sample as being from the VocalForge library.

I was digging through a sample library the other day and discovered this sample-- it's in the Zero-G Datafiles library.

Been listening to this track from Die Hard Trilogy, and there does seem to be some samples in there. The only one I've recognized thus far is the "YEEEEEEAAA BOYYYYYYYYY" that's probably lifted from some Public Enemy song, or at least was inspired by that. I also swear that the guitar was taken from something else too.
I should give the soundtrack a listen to see if any other tracks make use of samples. One of them uses part of the Fox fanfare at the beginning, but that wouldn't really count considering it's a Fox game based on a Fox property, and hell, the Fox Interactive logo already uses said fanfare anyway.

I'm glad more craziness keeps turning up, I feel like there's tons of re-used voice samples scattered throughout a lot of games! We have another usage of the dealer sample, this time featuring simply "Place yer bets, ladies n' gentlemen" and "Get yer bets down, ladies n' gentlemen". origin.radioaustralia.net.au/international/radio/onairhighlights/thai-casino-plan-provokeThis 2008 article seems to have a song utilizing said sample playing at the intro and outro. I'll see if I can shazam it... EDIT: It's from Alex Maragos' Play Six single. There's no download links online but you can grab it on iTunes. The track uses... "He's comin' out again fo' a new point!Four four's the point, mark four!Who wants the hard four? Five wants four!Ace-deuce craps wants four!Four n' he made it the hard way!Pay the front line, take the hard!We 'ave a shooter n' a good'un, comin' out fo' a new point!Get yer bets down, ladies n' gentlemen! He's a-rollin'... point is nine! Place nine!Eight, shootin' fo' nine! Five, shootin' fo' nine!Who wants to become?Nine, a winner! Got a hot hand! Place yer bets, ladies n' gentlemen!Six, the point! Play six..."This does therefore beg the question as to what happened to "pay the front line, take the don'ts", but maybe there's a sample pack all of these are taking the sample from, and that one pack has the entire thing intact?

Its hard to tell with the pitch shifting though. Nice find.

Here's another one I found, thanks to the MobyGames forums... The title theme to Psygnosis and DMA Design's Blood Money on the Amiga. Apparently it takes samples from things like Earth, Wind & Fire, It Takes Two, and even Loadsamoney, of all things. www.mobygames.com/game/blood-money/forums/dga,2/dgm,174586/
