The only hack roms I have played and enjoyed as well are Moemon Emerald and Street Fighter II Koryu.
Moemon Emerald is one of the most popular Pokemon rom hacks which, as the title witness, is a rom hack of Pokemon Emerald which replaces Pokemon with cute, female Pokemon personifications. Since I love moe (and of course Pokemon personifications) and I have never played Pokemon Emerald before this rom hack was the perfect choice for me.
As about Street Fighter II Koryu? Just look for youselves:
The perfect game to play with your friends for the laugh and only. And if you suck at fighting games now you'll have a reasonable excuse for losing like an idiot. ;D

Wouldn't know about either of those, but like most, I would mainly think to look around at: www.romhacking.net/hacks/I guess the main thing would be to look around fan sites, because just going off of RHDN, you wouldn't know how far along Streets of Rage hacking is coming: www.soronline.net/sor2_downloads.htmOr Sonic: info.sonicretro.org/Category:Hacks ^Unfortunately the : prevents that from coming out like it should. I'd recommend Robotnik's Revenge, a Sonic 2 boss rush hack. Sonic 2XL can be pretty funny, the rings are now onion rings and he starts getting fatter the more he collects them, but can run it off, provided he doesn't keep running into them. The only downside is I'm not sure how many, or few, stage hacks are complete. The other thing is you'll only get pre-patched roms off this site, which RHDN would be against.

Sonic 3 Complete is a great hack of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, because it had more features and works fine on real Sega Genesis hardware with the Everdrive. I favor this one although I haven't got enough time on Sonic Megamix.

My favourite was Mario Adventure. Basicly took the engine of Mario 3 and made a completely new game out of it with new level arrangements, and a literal shit ton of levels. Also lots of realy hard levels that you can get totaly stuck on until you find the one way to move forward.
On the other hand having more then one of those turtle boss things at the same time was a good idea, but the code wasn't modified succifiently so if you picked up one of the mushrooms you became motionless and the other guy immediately killed you. Still, it was the mark of great skill to get both the mushrooms, which I did manage sometimes.
One thing creeped me out though, sometimes their sprites would sort of invert and you had this freaky inside out thing flying across the screen. Shit was horrifying.
Never finished it due to actualy having to find a hidden eky in every world aand the worlds I felt at the time were far too long and hard to actualy attempt this.

I havent played too many of these, but I LOVED Cutman's Bad Scizzor Day. Other people may say that it isn't funny, but I laughed!

I remember really liking this Pokemon hack of Stranded/Survival Kids. For some reason killing and eating slowpokes wasn't scarring. Do you remember the name of this rom hack? As a fan of Survival Kids I'm quite interested.

I have a soft spot for a hack for the Wisdom Tree title Spiritual Warfare, aptly titled God Hates You! It's full of juvenile and disturbing humor, but I actually like it for that. In a way, it's a proof of concept hack: it is not actually possible to make a Wisdom Tree game any worse than it was originally.

There's some amazing Sonic the Hedgehog hacks. My favorite is probably Sonic VR, which is kind of like Super Meat Boy meets Sonic the Hedgehog. Basically, there's a series of challenge rooms that test all of your Sonic skills. It's really cool: info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_VR

Sure the final product was a bit of a mess, and there's the whole issue over whether Flames of Eternity is better, but Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes is a fairly decent, extensive rom hack.

I'm amazed I haven't posted in here. I like hacks that do small things. Things the devs would never do, but small things nonetheless... Donkey Kong: Pauline Edition made headlines lately, but there's an Earthbound hack that came out not long ago that pulls the same genderswap, and it's called The Rat Race. What's it do? Why, it completely and utterly role-reverses Ness and Paula. Now, I don't mean in the "you start in Twoson and have to run back and recruit Ness" kind of way - I mean that Ness and Paula's entire lives are utterly swapped around. Basically, the game plays pretty much exactly as before, just the sprites and dialogue are changed and other little stuff is swapped around to make things make sense. For example, instead of Ness's little sister Tracy operating Escargo Express, it is now Paula's little brother. Paula becomes a silent protagonist, while Ness gains his voice, though much of the same things are said. That can be found over this way. Another hack I rather liked a lot is Castlevania Remix. This really brings home that awesome "1930's horror" feel, with great use of color. My big problem with it, though, is that the candles all seem to be hidden...

I wonder what "The Rat Race" does in terms of Magicant. A naked Paula?

I wonder what "The Rat Race" does in terms of Magicant. A naked Paula? Given that the patch is for the US version, I imagine they sub in the (new) pajama sprites instead.

Someone recently did a Zelda/Link playerswap for the original Zelda too. I'm amazed it's taken this long for people to do this...although it has been done in many games where a female player eventually happened (like hacking the looks and abilities of Peach in SMB2 into other SMB games). I mean, on one hand it may show that players want/expect different characters to play differently from one another (regardless of gender), but on the other, it also shows how lazy/[faux] sexist rom hackers are to not bother doing some fairly simple sprite hacks.
