I don't think they were necessarily tacked on, although, I will agree that they could have been implemented/handled better. That's what I was hoping for from the sequel, and it's why I was so disappointed when I saw they'd just been tossed out the window. I was always a little obsessive with my gun upgrading, so I never really had an issue with the battle system, but I'd hear horror stories of people running out of ammo or something during the hospital fight, and having to essentially start the game over.
It has been a long while, so I may be remembering it poorly...I think I'll play it again once I finish Ookami.

Man it was the fight with the final enemy in the game...that demon come baby boss thing- I have still no idea to this day how I beat it with my lack of ammo and health items!I somehow fluked it with the ultimate magic spell being abused...
Maybe had they handled it better like you said I would have had better feelings about it- one thing I liked about it was the music on the map- wonder if I could find an mp3 somewhere hehe...

Disruptor Ridge Racer is fun because you can play custom sound tracks Monster Rancher Alundra I would Recomend South Park but the PSX verson sucks
