www.hardcoregaming101.net/superlocomotive/superlocomotive.htmThis early Sega arcade title sure is bizarre. You are...a sentient locomotive, who's being chased for some reason? And you have to attack with them steam clouds? Huh. That's interesting. I'd never really heard of this one before, because it never got ported anywhere. But otherwise, it seems to be also recognized for totally ripping off Yellow Magic Orchestra's song Rydeen. It's a great rendition of a great song, in spite of the plagerism.

I've never heard of this one before either. I'm really surprised Sega never ported it anywhere, crammed it into a compilation pack, or made it a bonus/extra/unlockable in a larger game like they did with Deep Scan in Die Hard Arcade.

I bet it's severely tied up in rights issues; probably the same thing tying up their other early games like I'm Sorry.

But aren't the Coreland games being held up by cross-ownership issues (ie: NamcoBandai) instead of music clearances?

Super Locomotive is just one of several train games released for arcades in the same year including Konami's Loco-Motion and Taito's Time Tunnel (a few years earlier Exidy released Side Track, which is pretty cool too). It's also easily the least interesting, fun and original game of the lot and was almost certainly released in response to Loco-Motion (which was put out months earlier). Article is just a wee bit too gushy.

Wow I've always thought "they must have processed some running train sounds for the beginning of this song" when listening to Rydeen, seeing someone's actually put the song into a game involving trains feels like realizing an hallucination.
