Finished up my first route in Tokimeki Memorial 2. Went for Hikari first, since she's not just the poster girl of this game, but also your childhood friend that always had a crush on you, so she is the easiest one to win. Figured I'd go with the least troublesome first to get into the game. Which turns out wasn't necessary, since TokiMemo2 play almost exactly the same as the first gameplay wise. There's just a whole lot more to the content, it spanning a whopping 5 PS1 discs and all. A lot of it is in the background tho, like every character now having their own changing relationships to one another, or your two male friends being able to pursue their own love interests. Basically the game tries to make its cast seem a bit more dynamic and not just only exist when the player deems them worthy of interacting with them.

Anyone playing Bug Fables? Not much talk about it on the net but the couple reviews I read say it is a good Paper Mario TTYD clone. It was on PC's last year but just came to consoles this week. Looks like fun and what I've been wanting from a Paper Mario sequel since 2004.

I'm planning on playing it at some point. Probably once I'm done XCDE, and finish off Damascus Gears Operation Osaka which I was somewhat close to finishing before XCDE came out.
A few random XC thoughts:
1. Expert Mode is so thoroughly misnamed as it makes the game easier not harder. Being able to control your level based on stockpiled XP nets you much more XP, AP and SP since those drop off if you’re over leveled and extra if you're under leveled. It’d be nice if there was an option to automatically shift your level to match the enemy, but maybe that’d make things too easy. One quirk which I’d consider a bug is that when a character joins your party, their level is based on what the party has set not the maximum. That’s the only thing that really makes it for “experts” since you might get screwed over if you don’t know when characters join (or don’t want to look it up).
2. I really wish there was an option to set the weather in addition to time. It’s a little annoying to constantly reset the time hoping to get a specific condition.
3. It’s so bizarre that Sharla’s Japanese name is Carla. Why didn’t they just go with that?
4. There’s a bunch of additions to quests that make them such a snap to complete. Enemies and even collectables get marked on the map with an optional navigation route to get to them as I mentioned before. I’m trying to polish off all the quests since it’s they’re so easy to do now with no time wasting hunting. You still do basically need a guide to find all the quests though.

This feature is a big reason I went ahead and bought the Switch version. That and the prettier character models. I really liked Xenoblade 2 but could never make it very far in the first game without getting bored/side quested to death.

Make sure to totally abuse Expert Mode too! I'm towards the end of the Satorl Marsh and did all the quests there and have characters with a "natural" level of 40 whereas the enemies top out at the high 20s! The over leveling also lets you get equipment drops from higher level areas that you normally need to wait a bit for which lets you under level yourself to get even more XP! It's just a constant cycle that feeds back into itself. I wish I had some notes for level or time as all I really remember is being a little under leveled by the mid-70 point of the game. I'm at 18 hours so far.

Found out a fun new thing about myself. I get an eye nerve twitch from playing the 3DS. Consistently, the more I've played Etrian Odyssey 4 the last couple weeks, the more I have it. When I was totally addicted to it when I just started playing I had one for a week and a half, and now that I play it less (but still somewhat regularly), I've had it mostly the days after I played it. I've played my (og) 3DS quite a lot over the years, and I stare at screens all day, so it's kind of coming out of nowhere. Anyone playing Bug Fables? Not much talk about it on the net but the couple reviews I read say it is a good Paper Mario TTYD clone. It was on PC's last year but just came to consoles this week. Looks like fun and what I've been wanting from a Paper Mario sequel since 2004. I saw a bit of it the other day, but I was surprised to see how well recieved it is. I might make it my next RPG after EO4.

You know darn well if we got this over here,Royal Stone and Nazo Puyo would be replaced by Ecco the Dolphin and Space Harrier. If you are real lucky, maybe they could throw in a Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck game.

How small is the screen size on that thing? These old handhelds don't need mini versions, they need XL size.

Wow, I hate everything about it. The incredibly small size, the fact that they didn’t put all 16 games on ONE system but instead spread them out so you’d have to buy four versions of them. I’m actually semi-upset and won’t look into this thing anymore. Next!
(A gameboy would be amazing, except make it the same size as the original GB cause who in their right mind would want a smaller screen than that? What on earth is the point?)
