I was kind of wondering a while back why we hadn't heard anything about Suikoden in a while. It seems to be a pretty highly regarded series. I had completely forgotten it was a Konami series, which obviously explains why it hasn't seen any games recently. I don't really associate Konami with RPGs I guess. I find it interesting that Eiyuden Chronicle looks kind of Octopath-y graphically.
Really should get around to Suikoden one day. Unfortunately, there are so damn many RPGs out there and they're usually games that take a while. I wish I had gotten into RPGs more as a teenager. For now, I'm still doing Etrian Odyssey 4, a game I started in March. The post-game is pretty long, but it's pretty much just more game and I'm really enjoying it so I'm not gonna skip it. But at the same time, it would be good to be able to move on to something new.
If only there weren't so many games. And I guess it also doesn't help that I'm really addicted to Nuclear Throne right now.

I have the same problem. I got into RPGs jn my early 20s so catching up seems near impossible. And of course due to the length of many and limited play time my backlog just shoots up whilst I'm playing them. There just isn't time to play everything unfortunately.

All thriller no killer and clocks in at a breezy 15 to 20 hours. Suikoden 2 should take 35. They aren't the time sinks other RPGs are.

Tbf Suikoden died because it stopped selling well enough for Konami, not just cause like some others of their franchise.
And yeah, Suikoden I and II together are about as long as a quick Tales or half a Xenoblade game, so compared to the usualy bloated messes that JRPGs have become, they are a breeze.

Suikoden I is actually still my favorite. I love how not bloated it is, while still feeling pretty epic!
A couple of other things on my mind right now:
I really thought Ghost of Tsushima could be for me, but alas.... I really don’t like this genre very much but I thought this would somehow be different. Also, I don’t think the game is even half as pretty as early trailers had me believe. Nothing new though...
Streets of Rage 4 has a physical release all of a sudden? I thought Limited Run was the way to go, but now there’s another official release? Much cheaper too. I’m definitely picking it up this weekend.
Lastly: Is Momodora - Reverie under the moonlight worth getting if you love metroidvanias? I have my eyes on it but I’m scared it’s gonna be too small and short and over too quickly.

I was really hyped for Tsushima when it looked like the game is just a walking simulator where you stroll through gorgeous feudal japan vistas. Once they went all like "and you'll have many tough Sekiro battles too" I lost interest. I'm still mildly interested tho, but I think that's bc all my timeline ever posts about the game is them faffing about in photo mode like there really is almost no story or gameplay and it is that thinly veiled walking simulator I wanted it to be xD

All I can say that I did a quick test run a couple of years ago and I remember getting my ass beaten by some regular enemy rather early in the game. In most Metroidvanias I usually am able to make some progress, like getting to the first or second boss before I die. But this one seems to have a steep learning curve when it comes to combat, so getting good at it will probably lengthen the playtime for most players. I still plan on giving it a shot some day, since I did find it rather itriguing.

The publishing deal was never exclusive to Limited Run Games. It depends on the territorial areas.
I don't know, if you live in Europe or Japan, but Dotemu (the publisher) likes to do LRG deals, a separate deal with european retailers and with 3goo regarding Japan territories. They did the same thing with Ys: Origin

They aren't the time sinks other RPGs are. I've heard they're pretty brief, yeah. That always helps. But a 20 hour game is still a mid-tier length game, I'd say. And I feel maybe Suikoden is a game that ideally you'd replay a bunch. That's the impression I get at least. I'm definitely interested in the games, but they appear to be very expensive secondhand. Yeah, Suikoden seemed to have dropped off a bit before Konami truly went to shit. Still, I feel like most RPG series have had some kind of rerelease or remaster or remake in recent years. I would've expected Suikoden 1 and 2 to be ported to modern systems by now (barring PSN), seeing as they're so highly regarded, if we weren't talking about Konami that is. But it's all moot anyway, since we ARE talking about Konami.

They put out quality anniversary collections and a regular partner for Nintendo and Hamster's legacy brands. They are not as supportive of later generation titles yet.

Speaking of Konami, there’s already a new mobile Castlevania game coming. Gameplay-wise it looks a bit like the tremendous failure that was Grimoire of Souls, so I guess my only question right now is:
What the actual f is the point of all this?
EDIT: And let me be clear: I actually think it doesn’t look half bad, and I would definitely play this on any console. My problem is mobile. And the fact that Konami just got rid of another similar title in the franchise without any explanation. I don’t understand what they’re doing. Do they even know?

"Testing in China" is the key part of the tweet. They're making this primarily for the Chinese market but just happen to also be releasing it worldwide. It's the same thing with Pokémon Unite.

I finally beat Bangai-O Missile Fury. That might just be the toughest game I've ever beaten. I feel like crying, especially after that bastard last stage where they end it with a Crazy King fight and then spawn two Crazy Kings after it!
