I had a lot of fun with DNF, but the turret sections are awful (IIRC there's *one* that isn't complete shit in the game) and the RC car section was really poorly fleshed out. Beyond that, I thought the action was great and I enjoyed seeing more of Duke's world. Considering the metacritic rating and general consensus on it, I'd say it's probably one of the most underrated and overhated games of this generation. I rambled a bit about it, but no one cares. Too much fun to hate on the game. PROTIP: When you get the shrinker, keep the shrinker. For the whole game. Don't dump it. Don't use it on anything less than enforcers, assault commanders, and octobrains. Use your other weapon for the weaker enemies. The ammo is dispersed well enough for it to work out and it makes a lot of the fights go so much quicker later on. Pretty much essential if you're going to be trying to play through on the harder difficulties.

With the recent Megaman discussion I decided to attempt to beat as many Megaman games as possible. Once again Im getting into a series that I'm not familiar with: The only Megaman game I have is Megaman Legends of Playstation (and I haven't even played that much) and once when I was like 9 I borrowed a copy of Megaman X2 from a friend of mine which I beat eventually.
And so I started with Megaman 1 for NES yesterday and today I finished it! I've played this one every now and then, but I've usually stopped playing after bit of Gutsman stage so for all things considered, this was my first serious attempt. I gave up yesterday after getting frustrated for all the platforming in Iceman's stage (Curse the person whoever came up with those appearing-disappearing blocks!). Other than that, the Dr. Wily's level was incredibly frustrating and would have probably been impossible if there weren't checkpoints after boss-battles.
Next up Megaman 2!

If you don't like them now, you'll run across them so often you'll have no choice but to start liking them ! Also don't forget Megaman on DOS like many people, it is indeed something else entirely ;D

Just bought Slap Happy Rhythm Busters off of Japanese PSN last night. It's an interesting game, but it's really tough to say if it's actually "good" or not. I do enjoy playing it, but it doesn't seem like the sort of game that would ever get any tournament cred.
Also bought Mad Stalker. Another of those "Down, Down for the uppercut motion" games, this time in a beat-em-up. The production values are dreadful in this game. It's otherwise not a bad beat-em-up, but I regret that I bought this and not something like Gunners Heaven, Panzer Bandit, or DoDonPachi instead.

Started up two games today, randomizer picked inFAMOUS for me to play and I decided on playing KOTOR. I'm also making really slow progress in Resi Revelations.

Playing around in Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs The Soulless Army on PS2 while I wait for Soul Hackers to get here. Not entirely sure if Soul Hackers is as much my thing as it would have been 15 years ago, but I've always wanted to play it damn it, so I'm going to give it a fair shot (despite my taste in gaming changing). The Raidou games really spoiled me by pretty much directly adapting the series to my interests. Sega's Yakuza franchise is my favorite RPG series at the moment, and the Raidou titles essentially merge that style of gameplay with the MegaTen universe (vs the more traditional titles that play more like Wizardry mixed with Pokemon). It's a shame they haven't made more MegaTen games like it There's some graphical artifacts when playing with the hardware drivers in PCSX2 (both DirectX9 and 11), so DX9 Software is totally the way to go. Under that mode, it reliably works like a champ. Under DX11 Hardware it looked great until I left the Detective Agency and under DX9 Hardware it leaves tile artifacts all over the background from the scaling. DX11 Hardware: DX11 Hardware (Errors): DX9 Software: I really only planned on playing around with the game to see if it was viable to run it under emulation for playing later, but realistically, there's a plausible chance that Soul Hackers won't be able to hold my interest and I'll wind up right back in Devil Summoner's arms, playing it through to the end. I hope to be proven wrong, but between 15+ years of hype and changing tastes in games, I'm mostly just happy to be able to support Atlus' decision to localize Soul Hackers for the real fans of the franchise. And hey, maybe they'll do another Devil Summoner title sometime.

I loaded up Rhythm Zone yesterday for the first time in a while, and discovered that in the time since I last played the game - the developer appears to have shut their doors, in the process leaving the game without any of its online functionality (Leaderboards, Featured Tracks, and Challenges) - and in turn, breaking all the achievements related to the online stuff (and the incentive of seeing how your score compared to the rest of the world).
So, I've uninstalled that, and I'm returning to Beat Hazard for my Music-based gaming fix (at least until the Audiosurf Air beta starts).

I've been continuing my Fallout 3 wanderings. I like the game a lot. I am easily absorbed by Elder Scrolls titles, and this is just a dystopic sci-fi oriented one. However, I've not played my file in a few days thanks to school cracking down. In fact, I should probably get back to work writing my midterms. XD

Anyone else playing The Old Republic? I'm finding it to be surprisingly addicting. About my only real complaint is that you can't save before you choose a dialog response, as with the old single player games. I've heard that things get extremely boring once you finish your character's story, but I'll worry about that when I get there.
