Save Me Mr. Tako! is getting a new version that actually fixes basically every issue I had with it! There was so much potential (cute platformer with a 20 hour RPG-esque plot), but the myriad of bugs particularly with collision detection did not mix well with the high difficulty. This was also another developer screwed over by Nicalis so it's being rereleased as a Definitive Edition under a new publisher. Apparently this made it so it isn't possible to give current owners a discount presumably due to the publisher swap or delisting of the original version. No word on what the new price is going to be, original was $15, but I'd still get it possibly for full price. This is the post with the changes. I'm not a patron and grabbed it from Nintendo Life. www.patreon.com/posts/save-me-mr-tako-49651619

After 67 hours I've finally, FINALLY restored the community centre in Stardew Valley: Now I can finally quit this game and do something more productive with my life, because I'll be damned if I'm going to 100% this thing completely to see the end credits.

Destructivator 2
What a fantastic arcade-style run and gun! It reminds me a bit of Treasure's Bangai-O, at least in terms of scale. You're a Lemmings-sized dude going after every single enemy in open arena-like stages, while platforming, dodging walls of projeciles and hopping in and and out of flying vehicles. Controls are simple, smooth and responsive and stages offer a lot of variety, each playing a little differently. It has an Amiga- or DOS shareware-like charme to it, but unlike most of those games it is highly polished. While it is good looking in videos, it really needs to be played, to truly appreciate its appeal:
Chances are you already own it (via last year's itch.io racial justice bundle), but otherwise it's pretty affordable anyway:

Can’t believe Street Fighter V is still getting new characters... Now there’s only one, secret character left. Who the hell can it be? It must be somewhat special for Capcom to save it for last, and also keep it a secret?
Mike Haggar? Giant REVillage Lady?
Those are the only ones I can think of.
Or some kind of big licensed character? Marvel? Or a guest character from another fighting game series entirely?

Realistically, maybe Retsu? Out of the SF1 characters that have never been playable, he seems to have the most real connection to various backstory bits.

It's actually going to be Keiji Inafune, kicking the door in and demanding Street Fighter 6 be outsourced to a Western developer in order to appeal to a wider audience. He has fifty health bars and you'll have to use every character on him, essentially working like an inverse boss rush, in order to make him realize that it's not 2008, he's not the general manager at Capcom, and we don't have to do that. (I don't know what the joke behind this was, honestly. It just kinda amused me.)
As an aside, what are quick and easy games to play on the Mega Drive or SNES? I'm playing Professor Layton and the Specter's Flute, and I'd like to have a short enough game to play on the PC. I can't think of any that aren't genuinely pretty challenging despite their short length (like Kid Klown in Krazy Chase, a pretty cool game with lots of great animation and slapstick that I just can't stick at the moment). Even some adventure games would do the trick, graphic or text adventures especially.

The Super Bonk games on SNES/Super Famicom are quick and easy.
Also looking for what to play - need to scratch the JRPG itch and so thought I'd pick something from my PS2 backlog. My options are: Kingdom Hearts 2 Shadow Hearts Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga Star Ocean: Till the End of Time Steambot Chronicles Valkyrie Profile 2 Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land
Edit: Oh and BoF Dragon Quarter
Any thoughts?

Thank you for the Bonk recommendations. Been meaning to get into that series in some form, so I might give it a bash!
On the RPGs, Kingdom Hearts II is the only one I've played. It leans way harder into the combat than the first game, which is grand since the combat is much more developed with plenty of options to play around with. It also features a load of optional "second quests" from the halfway point where you can return to earlier worlds and fight new enemies/bosses. The only warning I'll give is that the opening section is much slower paced and fairly long. There's a good reason for it being there and I think the game would be much worse if it were absent, but it's worth knowing that going in.
