Thanks for posting that lurker.
Since I enjoy the speculation I guess I'll post what I expect, which is a presentation light on new 1st party announcements. There is already so much unveiled but yet to release so I think we'll get a lot of the same games showing up that we saw at E3. I'll sound like a broken record but I'd say my most expected reveal from Nintendo is Xenoblade. I would have thought the next entry would have released by this time next year so we'll see.
On the 3rd party front I think Capcom are the most likely to have something new to show off. There's a few possibilities but I'm going to guess the next side entry in the Resident Evil series will show up.
Not sure whether we'll see Splatoon 3 again yet, guess it depends on the release date.
Anyway, I look forward to being wrong on the subject as usual.

In other news, it is being reported that the new version of the Aladdin/Lion King collection (which now adds The Jungle Book) will also include the SNES version of Aladdin so at least there will be a decent game on there now. (assuming that it's not misreported at least)
Could've been thrice the amount of decent games if the collection had better 8 bit representation :
^ Such a shame most people don't even know this exists.
And then we have: ^ It's genuinely good (especially with the Deluxe-hack applied)!

Unfortunately I got stuck when I couldn't figure out how to slide - problem with emulating. Obviously there are plenty of fans of the Mega Drive one too - not my cup of tea though. btw if you pop by here and there in October I'm hoping to be able to PM you some of what I've been working on.

Obviously there are plenty of fans of the Mega Drive one too - not my cup of tea though. btw if you pop by here and there in October I'm hoping to be able to PM you some of what I've been working on. Stolen from gamefaqs: "Dash : Push LEFT or RIGHT quickly twice and hold LEFT or RIGHT when you press it for the second time to dash. Keep holding it to continue dashing. Slide : Press button 1 while dashing to slide. Tip toe : Press button 2 while crouching to tip toe." I agree, Sega's 8 bit Aladdin is a pretty cool and thankfully closer to Capcom's excellent take on the movie than Virgin's. I still like the latter, those animations do look pretty sweet and I've got fond memories of playing the DOS version. But it certainly doesn't play as tightly as one would hope and it tends to be somewhat cheap. That said, The Jungle Book (MD, I also used to play it on DOS) is arguably a bit better in terms of gameplay, and probably the least frustrating of the Virgin games, so that's a plus for the collection. Even on Game Boy (and NES for that matter) it's fairly decent.
I kinda admire that they included the shoddy GB conversions of Aladdin and The Lion King, just for the sake of it. But why stop there and not add every console and homecomputer version? Players could've experienced some nice Lion King tunes Amiga-style or the complete trainwreck that is the official NES version of Aladdin:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, I'm glad you're secret project seems to be progressing.

While Splatoon 2 was fun, one thing I hope for is a better single player in Splatoon 3. I haven't gotten around to the single player in 2 yet. I enjoyed it enough in the first game as it was a nice surprise, and thought it had more in common with a 3D platformer than a TPS. I'm sure something meatier would be even better. I heard good things about the Octo expansion paid DLC. I also saw your post in the welcome thread so welcome back to the board.

Perhaps I'm asking too much here but in this day and age of remasters and remakes being abundant, whilst I get that a product like Final Fantasy II can continually be updated and improved upon in order to attract the new audience sought by the publishers, I am regularly disappointed that the original version isn't provided alongside. I would have thought that were the best of both worlds in order to entice both new and old fans. Recent releases such as the new version of Cotton or the Asha in Monster World physical edition have included the original version to my understanding and that's what I'd like to see happen more frequently - at least for very old games which would be small and presumably easy to emulate. This is also a bit of a pet peeve of mine. Often changes to rereleases/remasters/definitive editions/remakes are just automatically seen as improvements. Sometimes they mess with a game's balancing. Even something like adding the spindash to Sonic 1 or motion controls to Pikmin or Metroid Prime technically changes the difficulty/balancing. It especially annoys me in games when they neuter the difficulty compared to the original with no way to change it back. I'm really hoping DQ3 HD-2D has the original difficulty in there (unless they're changing more to the game to the point where that's not possible anymore). Stretching/upscaling late 90's/early 00's games just plain keeps me up at night. The only way to legally play a good looking version of Banjo-Kazooie is to go back to the N64 cart. Then again, I am a bit of a purist, and most remasters do seem worthwile at least. But it does suck if companies treat remasters as the only way to experience these games when there are significant differences between them, like how albums generally only have the newest remaster available on streaming, which is more often than not one of the, if not the single worst version of the album. But then again, if given the choice, the average person would just pick the most recent remaster to listen to. But now I'm getting off topic.

While Splatoon 2 was fun, one thing I hope for is a better single player in Splatoon 3. I'm kind of expecting it, to be honest. Splatoon 2's was significantly better than Splatoon 1's, and the Octo Expansion shows that they do care about the single player to some degree (and it was significantly better than Splatoon 2's base single player). With Splatoon 1 and base Splatoon 2 I feel Nintendo were just a little scared to commit to a fully online game, but with Octo Expansion it seems they actually started to care. I definitely hope they're aiming for Octo Expansion levels of quality/difficulty. If not, I'd rather they put more time in other aspects of the game and just not have a single player.

Good mix of stuff this time around. More outright shocks than usual I think.
Monster Hunter Rise - Sunbreak: Definitely getting it, but I hope less story content is locked behind multiplayer.
Chocobo GP - Did not expect Chocobo Racing to ever make a comeback.
New Kirby!!!!!! Is it secretly a prequel to Pikmin?
KotOR - I found the original super overrated like basically every Bioware game that isn’t Shattered Steel. If they’d announced the sequel too along with the cut content officially restored, that’d be exciting.
Woo! N64 games! Only 50% sarcastic. Genesis is surprising though. N64 controller is tempting since the system is so tied to it.
Shadowrun Trilogy - The Mac version never got a 64-bit update so it’s been sitting unplayed in my GOG library. Probably double dip for it.
Castlevania Advance Collection - Terribly kept secret, and I figured something like this would have been a Vol. 3 instead of 2. I mean it’s nice for people that don’t have the GBA games (or Dracula X), but it’s a pass for me.
Actrasier Renaissance - So many speculations as to why there’s never been any Quintet rereleases only for a full remake and out immediately no less. I was itching for something new before Mary Skelter Finale and this is an immediate buy.

Ahhh, not much for me there I'm afraid. Not really complaining cos I'm already being well fed with the lineup, but the Direct kind of bored me. The new Kirby looks wonderfully adorable and stoked for Bayo also. A vague 2022 date though I guess it'll be late next year.
Cool to see Actraiser return but I wasn't keen on the visuals.
Splatoon 3's showing really confused me. Usually Nintendo over explain their trailers but I didn't take anything from it's showing here.
I averted my eyes for the latest Dread trailer. It looks fantastic but I like to be surprised as I play.

I'll probably get the Chocobo Racing game to hold me off till Mario Kart 9.
Edit: I wonder if this is the cancelled 3DS Chocobo Racing sequel, but rebuilt for Switch....

What is the point of doing N64 games anyway? Mario Party 1-3 are covered by Mario Party Superstars,we probably won't get any of the Bomberman games, still no Pilotwings 64. So ,the games they showed was pretty much the entire first party 64 library.

I'm pretty sure it's going to come in waves just like the NES/SNES stuff.

So ,the games they showed was pretty much the entire first party 64 library. Hey now, Winback kicks ass! If they can get the Goemon games on there, the service will be completely worth it. While I've never been the biggest fan of the N64, I am sort of eager to revisit these games as most of them haven't been as easily emulatable or re-released to death like Nintendo's 8 and 16-bit libraries. I'm seeing lots of "outrage" on the internet about the casting for the Mario movie. While I'm not a fan of having these bland celebs voice these characters, lots of people are mad that Charles Martinet isn't voicing Mario. Have you heard the man's voice for Mario? It's not really meant for delivering dialogue. It's fine for sound bites and catch phrases, and it would be good if they were going to do something experimental where Mario didn't talk much - but they're not going to do that. They're going to write dialogue where he says stuff like "This is worse than the time I dated Taylor Swift!"
