I decided to start playing Tales of Symphonia which will be my second entry into the Tales of series. I was looking for something much more straightforward and that I can take at a slow pace following going so all in with Xenoblade 3. So far it's not capturing me particularly, but its charming enough to stick with for now. I know the game has a good reputation but I don't know how much of that is due to being a rare RPG on Gamecube. For me, it was a decent game. Enough to play through once. Not a difficult game by any means, and kind of light-hearted overall. Rare Gamecube RPG indeed.

Sounds like it's going to be a slow starter with a simple story which is fine by me. The previous entry I played was Abyss which was a bit of a slow burn itself to be fair, although it turned out to be really worth playing. Abyss is my favorite entirely for how every single twist genuinely turns the entire story on its head, and does a great job at deconstructing a cast of emotionally stunted people and their faults while making direct comparisons to the antagonists, who are actually somewhat sympathetic when you start to understand their motivations. This feels like a very diplomatic way of saying they were outright bastards. --- Speaking of Gamecube RPG's I saw another Paper Mario clone announcement yesterday, this one is looking to be Kickstarted but looks nice in the trailer below. It seems there's a lot of these in development right now. I guess we're at the stage where people who enjoyed Paper Mario growing up are now making games influenced by it.

So in other news, Embracer Group owns Limited Run Games and also Tatsujin (Toaplan IPs) and they own Bitwave who is helping to publish this:

ugh can they stop buying everything already
They can keep Limited Run,though, those guys always were awful. Selling physical copies is pointless when the number produced is so low entirely to milk FOMO.

Selling physical copies is pointless when the number produced is so low entirely to milk FOMO. Limited Run produce to the quantity preordered so the only FOMO is based on the schedule which I think is the best case scenario for their business model, though they do have other issues. -- New game from the devs of Blazing Chrome This one is from the devs of Owl Boy

I have a suspicion that the Space Harrier II is a modified version of the 32X SH since that was already super smooth. Maybe 32X games in a third one if there is one? Even though I said Sewer Shark should be on it, I'm still a little surprised to see it actually happen. That game has such a goofy charm.

My god you people are still here! Where else would we be? ugh can they stop buying everything already They can keep Limited Run,though, those guys always were awful. Selling physical copies is pointless when the number produced is so low entirely to milk FOMO. Are they that bad? It would be better if they stayed in print for longer, but there's no limit to the amount of pre-orders is there? For half of the games they offer it's a miracle they even get a physical release of some sort. It's still a bit FOMO-ish, but it's better than having no physical editions for these games.

Dumb random question. The Mario Kart 8 DLC - is it known who the developer is? I would expect the assets at least are being handled by Bandai Namco with EPD9 doing the core development but I haven't seen anything.
