Playing Oracle of Ages. The Goron Dance thing has got to be one of the low points in the Zelda franchise. Just fuggin annoying on so many levels. I also wasted my time trying to win at Platinum challenge because I mistakenly thought I had to beat the stupid Goron Dance on the hardest level to get the key from him. You can imagine how that turned out.

I hated that part too, and they make you do it in Seasons too.

I really did not enjoy Seasons and Ages back when I played them; totally didn't understand the massive amount of love they were getting from everyone (including the GIA).

I liked Seasons well enough, but the time travel mechanic in Ages was tedious. Most of the time it seems like it's there just to pad out the length of the game by making you go back and forth between time periods over and over again. I don't remember it being as much of a limitation in Link's Awakening (probably because it was designed better), but the lack of buttons on the Game Boy gets annoying when you're frequently having to access the menu and swap items out, especially in the overworld.

Swapping between items is definitely the weakest part of the Oracle games. It was slightly irritating in Link's Awakening, but significantly worse in the Oracles games, where you have to swap items with considerably greater frequency. I also agree that Ages is generally more tedious then Seasons.
I rather enjoyed them, but they are a definite step down from Link's Awakening, which I hold to be the pinnacle of 2D Zelda.

I love both Oracle games. Although I should say I played them long before Link's Awakening, which I'm only just playing through for the first time right now. I never realized how much the Oracle games had in common with Link's Awakening. Playing Link's Awakening now, feels like I'm getting to experience a third Oracle game, which is just fine with me It's been years since I played either Oracle game, but Ages was my favorite, although I like the Roc's Cape item from Seasons the most. I never had any problem with the dancing in either game, but I did have the player's guide when I played them, so that might have given me some advice for what to do during each dance. It's been so long I don't remember.

I liked all three games equally, in that they kind of were hampered by a lack of buttons. Link's Awakening feels like a much more focused game. In retrospect it's one of the best Zelda's. Oracle suffered from coming out right after Ocarina which changed up everything in that series. It also had a lot of references, compared to all the Mario ones in Awakening. That and I still can't beat the absolute last boss of the set. I should sit down and give those games a play through again.

I still have yet to play any of the GB Zeldas. Really should get around to rectifying that, but I'm only just now playing Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Seal.

Link's Awakening holds up though. It really is one of the best Zeldas. Top 3 in my list, easily.
I don't mind Oracle of Ages overall. It's still a pretty good Zelda fix. I picked this one up before Seasons because I'd heard Ages was more puzzle oriented while Seasons was more action oriented. And I always found the action element of top-down Zeldas to be a bit clunky. Still, I'll get around to Seasons eventually.

Gotta say, though, this is one of the best songs in the series.

It's great. Until you've been playing the same stage for an hour straight, that is. Goddamn spike traps...

Definitely try to get around to playing at least Link's Awakening sometime. It's easily one of the best games in the whole series... hell, a strong case can be made for it being the best game in the series.

Finished Fire Emblem: Awakening. Over a year and my 3DS is finally getting some use... And alot of it! I've spent far more time than I should on this game; though even after admitting that, I'll still keep playing anyway. (I'm a sucker for these grid-based RPGs.) It's definitely the best handheld game I've played in years. I dunno if any of the DLC is worth it, but I've a feeling I'll find out soon enough. If I'm lucky, I'll find some other Fire emblem games to try later. Though after looking at Amazon prices for past games, I'm glad I bought Awakening while it was still new.

Currently enjoying this a lot myself! I'm spending more time fighting challenge battles than the actual story, though; I've recruited about eight of the Bonus Box characters and five or six other players' tacticians via StreetPass. At some point I intend to make a team consisting of nothing but the tacticians I've recruited. =P

^ The bonus box is one of two reasons it took around 130 hours for me to finish it. Wasn't sure if I'd be able to go back once the game was finished, so I did everything I could before doing so. As a result, my army is overpowered to the point where there isn't even a point in trying now. Granted however I was playing on "normal." At some point I intend to make a team consisting of nothing but the tacticians I've recruited. =P Sweet... I've started using street pass since I got the game, but only found a single player so far. I assumed it was a lost concept. Then again it's not like I travel very far.
