Yay another article! I heard the EarthBound article was submitted. Are we going to see it in the near future?
Anyway, it's not just Dragon's Lair with a time traveling green haired anime chick--she also has less clothes than Dirk.

I think the first Bill & Ted movie was the one with the time traveling story, not the second.

I think the first Bill & Ted movie was the one with the time traveling story, not the second. No, the sentence is about using time travel for nefarious purposes, which the bad guy in Bogus Journey tried to do. Hence also referring to BTTF Part 2 with old Biff.

The Sega CD port looks pretty awful compared to the arcade (of course!) but I'm wondering if the animation was smooth.
Was this released in the States in any official capacity?

Nope, definitely not as smooth. But, I like the way they handled this conversion. Most FMV was just dithered (to fit the 64 color limit) and then heavily compressed (to fit on a CD). In Time Gal, they took key frames, totally recolored them with a lower color palette and animated them that way. It's choppier, but it looks far less like garbage than Dragon's Lair does, because it was redone with the limitations of the system in mind. And yeah, it got a US release. It's not super expensive but not cheap either, IIRC.

We got the Sega CD and Laseractive versions.
Also, the Japanese version of the Sega CD game has an easter egg (I forget the conditions - I think it was beat on the hardest difficulty 1cc) where you get a nude picture of Reika (from the cleavage up though).

The redrawned Wolfteam gameplay runs at about 1/3rd the framerate (about 8fps). As for US Laseractive, I couldn't find concrete evidence of a US release but it's probably even rarer than the Japanese version. Can't find any pic of the supposed Japanese Mega CD Easter egg, either...

Great article! I always thought Time Gal was one of the more interesting Sega CD FMV titles and am very glad to see an article written up on it. Also, I knew you could play this on MSX through the rare peripheral, but not the X1. I really appreciate the trivia on the obscure computer systems because there isn't a lot of information on them that is readily available.

As for Laseractive, I remember seeing it for sale along with Triad Stone and Road Prosecutor at Incredible Universe in 1994. It was also in this sales pamphlet I had, I'll see if I can find that as well.

Well, there's the bikini Samus of the game, I guess. Not sure if you have to 1cc for that or not, but we can mention it on the article.
As for pics of a VHDpc INTER ACTION, those seem to be scarce. In fact, typing "VHDpc INTER ACTION" into Google lists this site as the 7th result now. It might be nice to find a pic of one of those since there's hardly any English info on it.

I really wish someone could turn up Taito's Space Battleship Yamato LD game - apparently there were functional machines but none are known to exist, just the discs.

Finding a PDF, I found a better illustration scan of the Western cover: Booklet Coverand also had this gem: If you want to add to the article, sneak this sentence in about the Sega CD port:

I wonder if Sega CD got the sequence where Reika gets her underwear ripped off by the dinosaur (as seen in the screenshots), and if so, why it wasn't noted by the censors. Then again, the early 1990s hearings had notoriously uneven coverage of games--why Night Trap and Mortal Kombat got persecuted while Snatcher, which was released around the same time and had a violent game with a hero who engaged in occasional sexual harassment was almost unnoticed.
