Don't forget Kathy Kane. She's a lesbian because...she's a lesbian! I tried reading Batwoman because people wank all over it. I can't get into it because she's such a bitch. Not because I'm insecure and threatened by strong women, she's just a really nasty bitch. They made Chase act like queen thingy too. Apollo and Midnighter have been a decent gay couple for the most part - unfortunately they were handled really bad after the New 52, and then Stormwatch was rebooted again and they're seemingly straight (because Jim Starlin is a dildo). So yeah.

Russia's new law could be interpreted as doing a whole lot more than just arresting tourists. english.ruvr.ru/news/2013_06_30/Russias-Putin-signs-anti-gay-propaganda-bill-into-law-3332/Apparently, if you disseminate information "aimed at minors" which suggests that straight and gay relationships are "socially equivalent," then you're guilty of spreading gay propaganda. now, just for fun: How broadly can you define "disseminating information" How broadly can you define "aimed at minors" Yeah, this bill is just plain dangerous. On a lighter note, I have very little reverence for comic book canon, so the idea of rebooting superheroes as gay, purely for the sake of being a shit disturber, is something I could get behind, but only of they go for it whole-hog. No double standards here, I want gay fanservice that's every bit as absurdly over the top as the usual comic book T&A. That being said, I think what I want is less "social sensitivity" and more "social satire." In the long run, making Superman gay probably doesn't inherently improve the quality of the story so much as provide an opportunity to poke sarcastic little jabs at comic books and their audiences. So it's probably for the best to not do it.

I think the older you get, the less you really want to be a shit disturber and troll other people.

I think the older you get, the less you really want to be a shit disturber and troll other people. You would think that, but then there are some serious stand-out cases of people in their 30's or older that seem to thrive on nothing but shit-disturbing. Fred Phelps, and (until a few years ago) Jack Thompson are my prime examples.

I think the older you get, the less you really want to be a shit disturber and troll other people. The difference, I feel, is when there's an actual point to be made in one's disturbances. There is a point to be made in taking the piss out of the way certain media portray sexuality. I'm just not sure there's anyone out there with enough talent and a sharp enough satirical wit to properly balance pushing people's buttons while making a meaningful point at the same time. Too far one way and you're just being preachy and self-congratulatory. (oh look at how progressive I'm being) Too far the other way and you're just being offensive.

I think the internet has caused that ship to sail. All people know how to do know is the "LULZ" style. Being absolutely dismissive and wanting to rub people's faces in it. And that doesn't help one bit, even if it makes the people doing it feel good.

Yeah, the article I linked went into that a little as well; just the headline makes it seem like it's specifically about tourists.

Man, Russia sucks. Every time I think they've moved on from being nothing but a police state, they go back and pull something like this. Practically everything I hear about it still makes it sound like a horrible place to live.

Always amusing to see how populist gay-hate-mongers, are always so fabulous all the time. So funny. So funny it makes you want to leave this planet. So, so funny I'd get drunk just thinking about how fun it is. link: How Putin had the journalist who got the pic below slaughtered in four months. pictured: grotesque buffoon macho man Putin. The one who sends us pics of himself in full big hunt gear all the time? Methinks the Putin protests too much. Can you hear me laugh? Yeah sounds more like screaming rage, I know. That's the way I laugh. When I think about what I would like to do with Putin, I laugh and laugh... Like that. Coppola's Dracula at least had a troubled sense of honor. But at least SOME honor. When Dracula is more trustworthy than you, I guess you made it as a Russian leader. Just a note: I spent quite some time in St-Petersburg when I was 18/19. I met, and I insist on this, I met great people. Physical workers, College students, all who remain friends to this day. I have more pressing priorities than to slander a nation. It's all of Putin's menagerie I accuse. Demonizing and destroying a minority, LGBT people in this case, is ALWAYS priority number 2 in a fascist regime. Just saying - and having a Dracula laugh. And yeah, Coppola's Dracula shall forever remain in my top ten movies. Oh, shoot! It's a vampire movie! Tell me Vladimir, does that mean I'm gay? You're a confusing criminal, Vladi.

Coppola's Dracula landed me my first boyfriend.
I kind of miss him sometimes.
