They said the original idea was to create a 3D version of ALTtP, not that they actually started it Even so it's weird that I've never heard about that being their original idea up until now considering I read everything regarding the N64 Zelda back in the days.

Did not know that tidbit about Robin Williams. It's good to see folks in Hollywood who like games.

speaking of people borrowing video game systems, my friend borrowed my XB to finish Knights of the Old Republic, but he was playing so much that his father got so pissed and took away the xb. Funny.
On a different note, I started with LtP, but never really completed it. I always liked Metroid better and thought that Metroid was Nintendo's prize horse until they just handed it off to another company to make the primes (which are good... but I was looking forward to a 3rd-person metroid). To me, it always seemed like Nintendo put more pride in the Metroid series (at least, until the 64). From the 16-bit era, Metroid stands out more as a better-quality title.

I don't like Zelda games, the battles are uninterresting, bad humour, the stage designs are annoying and, most of the time, unoriginal, and the puzzles are no more than annoying.
There, I said it!

I've only been able to finish Zeldas 1, 2, and 3. Of those, I really liked Zeldas 1 and 2. Zelda:ALTTP was fun the first time, but in hindsight I don't feel it was a very good game. There was no sense of mystery or exploration in it for me. I've played the first GB Zelda, OOT, and Windwaker, and just got so bored with them that I couldn't finish them.
Zelda 1 reminds me of a lot of the Falcom games in that you were pretty much left in the world clueless about everything, and were required to figure out everything yourself with only some bizarre and vague clues to help you along. It is really the kind of game that was meant to be played in a group so that many people could put their minds to it and figure stuff out. All it took was for one person to find out you could burn bushes down before everyone started burning down every suspicious bush leading someone else to find some other secret, etc etc.
Zelda 2 was a little more accessible I think though the actual difficulty is through the roof until you get used to swordfighting. It was also pretty creepy.
From then on the Zelda games were extremely linear and to me playing them felt like painting by numbers. Find the dungeon marked clearly on the map, hit some switches, find an item, use that item to kill the dungeon boss, etc.
