I whacked at the star on that statue for a good five minutes and nothing happened. Am I doing something wrong, Joestar?

That's exactly what I used. I wonder if you need to be a certain level before you can open the chest?

I just finished listening to the Podcast today. No mention of Ultima Underworld in the "recommended game" section? For shame!

I thought we did mention it? Maybe that bit was cut out for time.

We mentioned it when discussing similar games at about 29:30 but I think we only mentioned it there.

KF shares lots of element with dark/demon's souls, however they are more likely spiritual succesors to the shadow tower spinoff games.
Also no mention of shadow tower abyss (or very little?), but i know it can be hard to play with emulation, however it has the best combat system, too bad the game gets very easy and short.
As for the plot in KF, I think the japanese game is about the king killing an evil warlock who resides the royal cementery. The first american game is about one of the king's best soldiers, Alexander, searching for the stolen moonlight sword on an island. And KFII is about the king's son taking the task of defeating his father who turned evil.
The games all connect together but in somewhat weird ways. In KF1 you see a fairy from KF-japan on a test tube, which happens to be the fairies created by guyra to lead adventures to the moonlight sword or something.
