So yes, this is an actual thing we're doing for the month of April! We thought it would be best to lull our regular followers into a false sense of security rather than have you openly vote on three terrible games like last time. I'm not sure whether the fake poll results will be used to determine next month's game.
At some point a handy guide on how to set up, run, and ultimately experience the game that is TekWar will be posted in the thread.

Not sure whether the joke is that the game of April is Tekwar or that it isn't Tekwar. If it is, though, I'd definitely be on board. (Also would have been just right on time after almost everyone on the forum wanted to play Mega Turrican, but then apparently some rabid Mother fandom found the poll...)

Really disappointed I can't find a "well, the kids have to learn about TekWar sooner or later" Simpsons clip anywhere on Youtube.

Assuming it isn't cut like my summary of 90's comics history from the Blackthorn episode, I'm totally going on a history rant about "The Action Pack" syndicated TV block that spawned TekWar (and Hercules...and in turn Xena). And we totally need to talk about Crapstone, the company that brought us the game "Homie the Clown" and other incredibly shitty licensed PC games.

I still don't know how exactly they came up with a game based on The Beverly Hillbillies, but they did. Also a game based on that turd The Taking of Beverly Hills. Yeah. And of course their non-licensed output, like Operation Body Count (aka "*gong* YOU LOSE") and Corridor 7. Ouch.

Just wanted to update the thread to let everybody know that I have found a CD copy of the game and would be willing to rehost it. Unfortunately, I have not yet got the game running in dosbox yet. I'm still googling and researching trying to find a solution, but I keep getting the error "BUFFER TOO BIG TO FIT IN CACHE", and I'm not sure what's causing it. Someone suggested replacing dos4gw.exe with dos32a, which is what allowed me to get Zone Raiders working finally, but this doesn't seem to be doing it. If anybody has a clue, or a suggestion (or just wants a copy of the game), let me know! Thanks!

I hate you all. I guess I should have known better, being April and all. I was actually looking forward to replaying Mega Turrican, though it sounds like both other choices beat it at the last minute. Now I need to track down a cheap copy of the game. Amazon.com doesn't ship games to Canada, and Amazon.ca has no listing. Ebay.com prices/shipping costs are a bit high for what we're getting here. I'm trying to aim for $5 here, and not having much luck . I'm a sucker for retro-FPSes, so I'd probably enjoy it. Though I guess nothing's stopping me from just replaying Mega Turrican for the hell of it. Anyone with me?

Shieeeet. I haven't played Tekwar and dont know much about it, but I know too much about Capstones other products: Operation Bodycount and Witchaven. I'm curious to try out about the game that had the first ever version of the build engine.
There's a copy on Ebay UK thats about 5£, but I think I'll borrow cardinalfangs copy for now. Not sure I'f I'll be able to get it to work, but wont hurt to try.

That's strange, the copy I have runs just fine in DOSBox, but unfortunately the FMV clips don't play back properly. Edit: For reference, I have the machine set to VESA_NOLFB (for SVGA support), core set to auto, cycles set to max, memory set to 63, and XMS and EMS set to on. I also have something called UMB set to true. I'll post my .conf file here in a bit.

Alright, here's the copy I promised. The public link is BROKEN for anyone who wants to give it a try.Much appreciated, Mr. Snarboo! Maybe that will give me some clue as to what the hell I'm doing wrong, lol. EDIT: Disc image removed from my Google Drive, as it was found to have some major issues. Snarboo had found a better version, but I don't have the link handy.
