Doesn't Falcom usually stay with an engine for a while? I doubt this will look much different from the two Sen no Kiseki games.
Also, one can still write YS. Looks not quite as dumb, though.

Yeah, if this is running on the Sen no Kiseki engine (a PS3/Vita game), it's even more questionable why this is on PS4 and not 3. It really has to be Sony kickbacks.

No, the franchise that's overdue for a revisit IMHO is Sorcerian. No classic series in their entire library would be as well-suited to DLC missions as that -- it would be a HUGE money-maker for them.

I should actually play that someday. Also, XSeed isn't actually part of Falcom right? Because it seems that the last 5-10 years you guys have translated every game we've gotten in the states. Just kind of curious on the business practices....if I may be so nosy.

Pretty sure they belong to Marvelous, actually. Might have an exclusive deal on the NA releases of Falcom games or such, though.

We're not part of Falcom, but we established a partnership with them roughly 5 years ago, right before I got hired (that's part of why I was chosen for the job, in fact). -Tom

I imagine Falcom must be pretty darn happy with the XSEED partnership. This is the most stable western presence they've ever had, and the Steam releases in particular always seem to sell pretty well.

I have high hopes for this one. I found Celceta to be inferior to Ys seven in many aspects. I feel this one will see Falcom used to the Vita, hence a technically more proficient game. Anyway, if it is a continuation of the gameplay and universe seen in 7 and Celcetta, with a little more graphical ooomph, it has a shot at being another fantastic "new style" Ys, with the Ys seven/ Celcetta gameplay. Truly great, great news. Falcom are on a roll. 10/10 news. Since I have been playing Ys for 25 years, here is the legendary intro to Ys on the PCE CD ROM. So to celebrate what will end up being a lifetime of Falcom, I just post that intro, which will always remain magical to me. At 1:08, the narrator will say eeess, no other word. That´s the proper pronouciation. I do not understand the problem with this name, since it is pronounced so clearly in this legendary intro... But who cares.

I bought Celceta and I will buy this on Vita as well. If XSEED makes it possible, that is.

Sorcerian is way too awkwardly outdated in its design, and if they were going to give it a huge modern overhaul than they might as well just start a new series.

I bet we never see this on PC The moment XSeed released various Ys games on Steam I bought them immediately. I'm probably going to be waiting for Celceta and Ys 7 forever...

I love the way Sorcerian plays. Screw modern -- they can appeal to the retro crowd just fine. I know I certainly wouldn't want them to change a thing. -Tom

Sorry for going off-topic, but Tom, do you think there's a chance of seeing Ys I & II Chronicles Plus on GOG? Did The Legend of Heroes: Trails in The Sky do well enough? On-topic: I am looking forward to the upcoming game, so much so that I started Memories of Celceta all over again
