I do believe that the original Rayman was originally made for the Jaguar. How far the franchise has come! At any rate, I'd love to join for the Road Rash part, but unfortunately I have to work that night. Hope everyone has a good time, though. Compare and Contrast : Zool.

Compare and Contrast : Zool. Was Zool on the Jaguar? At any rate, it's very surprising to see how big Rayman has become in recent years. The gaming press loved the first two, but it seemed forever destined to be lost among the pile of also-ran platformers from that era: Croc, Aero the Acrobat, Awesome Possum, Pandemonium!, Klanoa, etc.

It's the only console port of that one.

Rayman though really was truly saved by Raving Rabids, even though Ubisoft later did the 2d titles that period of time where he was still vaguely in the spotlight kept him around.

That's definitely the bizarre part about it. No one had heard of or thought about Rayman after the second game, then all of a sudden the property gets revived, and in a big way, by Rabbids. I would have sooner expected a new Battletoads.

No one had heard of or thought about Rayman after the second game Hey, I did! I grew up playing Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc on the GameCube, and I still consider it a great game and probably the best in the pre-Origins series. Maybe I'm being a liiiiiitle nostalgic it...

I'd say that before Origins, 2 was the best Rayman game. The original Rayman is pretty, sure, and it controls pretty well. But it's in that very short era of 2D platforming that cropped up in the 32-bit era, which I'd include with games like Gex, too. Pretty brutal difficulty, lots of searching for stuff to get the best ending, or in Rayman's case, to get the ending at all.

I think I managed to somehow completely avoid the entire late-16-into-32-bit (and N64) Platformer era, honestly.
Not that I wasn't playing games at all. I just wasn't playing platformers.
I don't think I had _any_ for the PS1 (unless you count the Mega Man X games), OR the Saturn (back when I had one).
I briefly had Mischief Makers on the N64, but it didn't really click with me at all (neither did the N64, period, for that matter).

It was great, and a ton of fun! Most of the games we took a look at were either 3DO ports or Namco stuff, though.

We did Road Rash, but not for too long. Problem is once you finish one race, it's pretty samey after that.

Shoot! Missed another one!
As long as you guys had fun - that's all that really matters. I'm assuming Weasel had a fine time without me?
I really need to work on my sleep schedule. I feel like one of the few people who goes to bed at 8:30.
