Aka Zettai Zetsumei Toshi, the survival series about natural disasters. Developer Granzella, founded by series creator Kazuma Kujo, has the rights to the IP and confirmed a new game is in development for 2015. I wish them luck on this project, the series was canceled around the time of the Tohoku Earthquake and thus would be in poor taste if it released as planned. www.siliconera.com/2014/12/22/disaster-report-creator-reacquires-rights-franchise/UPDATES: 1 and 2 are available on Japanese PSN. More information about the new title here.

Well, that's nice I was just thinking about this.
Sounds like they're making a brand new game. I guess they just decided to leave the fourth game in the trash, despite being almost finished?

Probably not his call to make, but maybe ideas he had will be reused.

A new Disaster Report game? Wow. I didn't saw that coming. It's nice to see niche francises like that being revived even with the closure of their creators' companies.

I was always curious about Disaster Report, but I never did play it, can anyone tell me if it's still worth playing all these years later if you're curious?
Anyway I'm glad to hear the series is coming back, natural disasters seem like a really underutilized concept for games, I thought "I Am Alive" would be like a modern take on Disaster Report, but it did not turn out that way.

They are "survivor horror" without the monsters. I say they are well worth hunting down for their concept, they do have a bit of that B-game quality to them. The first game is about earthquakes while the sequel "Raw Danger" is about floods.

Raw Danger is worth playing for its "incredible" localization, while Disaster Report is worth playing for having an inventory of like 289430520345 hats stacked onto one square.
If Disaster Report 4 was "nearing completion" and not actually complete it's probably easier for them to start from scratch on the PS4, I'm sure a lot of the same animations/controls/etc. will be reused from the fourth game.

Maybe they should make my idea of a Disaster Report-like game where the environmental hazard is the weather has food raining down from the heavens along with other food based weather, (tornado of tomato soup.)

I was always a big fan of the food based geographical nomenclature of Super Mario World so I am so down with this.

How does this series compare to Disaster: Day of Crisis? I played that a few years ago and really liked it, but I've never played a Disaster Report game before.

The Disaster Report games have barely any "action" gameplay in them. It's almost all platforming and resource management. They're fairly unique and definitely worth checking out.

I hope the people who got the rights of this francise make a proper promotion in order to make better sales.

One of the best news I've heard this month, maybe even this year. I loved the first game - it was something amazing, something I haven't seen in anything ever since. It was a shame that they decided to scrap the last one, and I can't wait to see what's going to happen now.
This thing can get HUGE if it's released on major consoles, without ancient gameplay ideas, with nice graphics. Oh I wish it happens the way I imagine it happening.
