Not so fresh news but I decided to open a thread about it anyway. Seriously, how can you fuck up such a simple game like Tetris? To make it have frame rate issues even in offline modes? EA has the title of the worst video games company but at least they made decent Tetris games (for consoles at least, F2P Tetris games for smartphones are obviously crap). And Ubisoft sell it for 20 dollars/euro? Are you kidding me? 20 dollars/euro for a digital version of Tetris? Fuck this shit! Good thing is that they gave a warning about the removal of other Tetris games at 3DS eShop made by other companies: Nintendo's Tetris for Game Boy that costed 5 dollars/euro and Ubisoft's Tetris Axis (from my favourite Tetris games, also available in retail version) that costed 10 dollars/euro. And guess what: many people after hearing about removal of older Tetris games at 3DS eShop and how awful and overpriced is Tetris Ultimate, they bought the old, good Tetris for Game Boy instead. Well done Ubisoft: more money for Nintendo, less for you. I know that there are many other examples that make Ubisoft the new EA but this one for me is the worst. Screwing up a big budget game is one thing. But screwing up a Tetris game? This deserves a place for Guinness World Records. I'll close my post with this part from a user's review at Metacritic ( www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/tetris-ultimate ):

I just find it funny how Ubisoft refuses to take even a one year break from Assassin's Creed, I mean holy shit you guys.

A shitty port of Tetris is no contest for the terrible, terrible things EA has done to Dungeon Keeper.

Hmmmm. I thought about getting the PS Vita version.
As for Ubisoft; never been a fan of them as developers. It was better when they were distributors (first Guillemot) in the early 90s. I do like Michel Ancel's games though, like the Rayman titles and Beyond Good & Evil.

At least Ubisoft has Rayman. And Child of Light was refreshing even though the game is more pretty than fun... And it's short as hell.
Assassin's Creed stopped being interesting after AC2 (which is still a good game IMO). I played 45 minutes of Unity and could not force myself to keep going. Same with Watch Dogs. Great times for AAA, isn't it?

The switch to new consoles has really fucked things up, as the devs are getting used to new technology. Add in the constant issues with implementing player unfriendly services for extra cash and the usual AAA release crunch, and the results can be disastrous.

Also, entirely avoidable.
Just stop buying AAA games. With so many other quality games being available, it's not really a problem.

I liked Ubisoft when they localized stuff (Grandia II, No More Heroes). Since they have Assassin's Creed those plans are now gone.
Worst part about this game is the timing, because it all but blocks Puyo Puyo Tetris from being brought over here (should Sega have tried) due to licensing contracts. I would just import that game to get your Tetris fix.

As far as AAA goes, I'm still really looking forward to Arkham Knight and Final Fantasy XV. And, uhmm Zelda Wii U (if I ever get a Wii U, this is the game I want for it). But that's about it.
I dunno how one would categorize things like Bloodborne, Yakuza 5 and Persona 5. Maybe Bloodborne is on the verge of AAA status. And Yakuza might be that in Japan.
Heck, I may not completely understand what AAA is and isn't.

P5 and Yakuza are definitely big games, but not AAA level games.

This new generation is 100% PC based with litle innovation on the hardware. The problem as usual is that developers either are running in a tight agenda or that they only care about screenshoots and none about performance.

Their evil is more on the monetization front.
