The No$gba emulator was updated last month with DSi support: problemkaputt.de/gba.htm (download debug version). The DSi system had three "types" of releases: -Normal DS games that are DSi enhanced (I assume these should work fine) -Retail DSi games, less than 10 were released. -Digital DSi games, called DSiWare. Not all games are playable, some boot but crash. Others seem to work, like Shantae and Dragon Quest Wars, but they don't save yet. Naturally, I wanted to try the games on the emulator and after 1 hour searching... I noticed that NO ONE seems to have DSiWare roms for download. Not even torrent sites. I did find downloads for the retail games, but those suck and I'm not interested in those. Does anyone know where to get DSiWare roms? I feel like I was searching for old abandonware roms or something.

Actually only four DSi retail games were released total. 3 in NA and 1 EU-exclusive (though said exclusive was released as a standard DS "game" in Japan) I think JP and AU each got one of the games NA got.

Yeah, I know about the retail ones. I'm interested in the digital ones, DSiWare. But strangely, only a few games have been dumped.

That's interesting information, but I have never hear about any cool game for DS that would be only avaible to buy via their virtual shop except Shantae.

The DS doesn't have any digital games, the DSi does. And there are more games other than Shantae that are worth it, such as these:
Dark Void Zero Cave Story Chronos Twins Dragon's Lair 1 & 2 Dr. Mario Express Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again Mighty Flip Champs Oregon Trail WarioWare: Snapped Zelda Four Swords Anniversary Edition

The DS doesn't have any digital games, the DSi does. Technically the DS did have digital content, at least retail DS game demos distributed through the Nintendo Channel on Wii. Select a demo to play on the NC, and then use Download Play on the DS to download it to the DS' RAM. But I don't know if anyone ever figured out a way to somehow dump them (especially as they would be deleted when the console was turned off). And it was obviously impossible once Nintendo pulled them offline, as well as the Channel itself.

I know someone reprogrammed a certain WiFi Chipset to transmit data to the DS way back when; I'm surprised they didn't try to do the opposite to download the demos.
In any case, I know that some of the demos still do exist; the old DS Download Stations that they had at retail locations was actually just a DS running a special cartridge that would transmit the demos. I know at least one collector on Reddit had a full NA collection.

This news excites me. Maybe Snapdots will get the attention it deserves if it can be emulated now.

At last I found DSiWare roms (have to register to see): www.3dsiso.com/showthread.php?267235-MEGA-USA-DSiWare-Mega-Pack-112-DSi-Games-for-your-3DS! Not all games are dumped, and not all work with the emulator. Decrypted files (which work on emu) end with .nds If you want to inject the games to your DSi/3DS, they have to be in the .cia format, which can also be found in that forum. And by the way, that forum also has 3DS roms, which apparently you can also inject into the system without too much trouble.

Y'know I'm nearly positive all of those are available on 3DS store. Which means I guess they aren't completely lost. I know that doesn't help your situation entirely, but somebody might still be able to get version yet.

All I've read online seems to be that DSiWare dumps only work on 3DS/2DS, not on DSi.

According to that site, they can. I can't find any reference to it anywhere. I'm guessing it involves Sudokuhax or such?

I have no idea. I don't really pirate with real consoles.
There are a bunch of guides there and in gbatemp about it. Or maybe I just misunderstood and the only thing you can do is dump from dsi, but not load them back in.

You'd think someone would've found a method to load 'em on DSi/XL, but nobody gives a shit about it. Hell, of all I've been researching about it, answers are all over the place. It's either "we don't know", "only 3DS can do it", or none at all. And I'm not really interested in getting a 3DS yet, so...
