Oh yeah, I loved that part. And I was trying to remember the name of the song.

I am surprised no one has mentioned No More Heroes' Havenly Sky.

Does Korobeiniki count for Tetris since it wasn't made for the game? I think it's a great choice for the series, but that might be because it's iconic at this point. It's public domain, therefore it cannot be licensed. Is it? I was playing Puyopuyo Tetris for 3DS, and one of the things The Tetris Company explicitly claims copyright on is "the Tetris theme song".

This one:
They have tried the same formula for the next games, but still for me, aint no rest for the wicked = borderlands.
---------------
If we are including music that is not inside the game but was used for promo, the winners are these two:

One of the best examples I can think of a real song being used in a game intro
And of course there's the sports game intros

Saints Row 3 has 2 pretty great moments. Generally, the third and the fourth Saints Row do an outstanding job in using the right track at the right time. I think the best moment is the final mission of the third game, with Holding Out For A Hero by Bonnie Tyler: Also, this: The HEALTH song in the airport level in Max Payne 3 almost makes up for every other flaw in the game. I love how cathartic that moment was and how the song's lyrics fit perfectly with Max's story.

Not sure if it counts because the song might be public domain but Deadly Premonition had the most inappropriate but awesome use of Amazing Grace.

I am surprised no one has mentioned No More Heroes' Havenly Sky. You mean Heavenly Star? I was absolutely OBSESSED with that song, (and by proxy Genki Rockets) thanks to Lumines, and then No More Heroes. It will go down as one of my most favourite tracks of all time. Man, Mizuguchi is still one of biggest heroes I'd like to add the amazing use of 'Don't Fear The Reaper' in Prey. This shooter has held up rather well, and still feels pretty fresh in 2015. I discovered Blue Oyster Cult because of this game

Yes, I meant Heavenly Star. My memory is slowly degenerating.

Peter Gabriel's "Burn you up, Burn you down" in Uru: Ages Beyond Myst (at 7.55 min. mark of this video) is so well placed, really helps to set up the tone for the game:
