What are the odds that this is one of those anti-reverse importation measures where the localized games will still have the Japanese text in them? Hence someone decided that they'd rather not localize the PS4 version rather than risk a shitstorm by region locking it.

If our experience with Falcom is anything to go by, the chances of that are very low, as Falcom games have never really lent themselves to dual language -- we've never even been able to include the Japanese voice track in a Falcom game, much less the Japanese text. -Tom

A bit odd that XSEED isn't handling this given how strong their partnership with Falcom has been. I guess maybe they just have too much on their plate already to tackle Tokyo Xanadu and Aksys managed to pick it up? Regardless, more Falcom is always great news! Ah so I wrongly assumed XSEED was publishing this here. Woops! Well, regardless of who's publishing it, still looking forward to the game. Edit: Just noticed the thread is called " Aksys will be bringing Tokyo Xanadu to the US". Yeah I officially went full retard in my original post.

So, I see the EX version is put on the PS4 and getting a bit pricey. Is this worthwhile?

Yes, the game is incredible. Probably one of the very best ARPGs I've played.

I really liked Xanadu Next so could go for more of that- seems as though this is completely unrelated? Does the whole high-school thing affect the story much?

I loved Xanadu next as well but Tokyo is a little different. Still a great game. The high school setting adds Persona social link type events to the game but they aren't handled as well. Still the ARPG gameplay makes up for any shortcomings.

Cheers for the info! I’ll have to pick it up before it gets absurdly expensive- already at the £50 mark ffs. If the world could stop all the excellent gigs this year Id maybe have the spare cash 😓

Are we talking Xenoblade Chronicles 2 levels of anime tedium? It also has great gameplay but good buggery Christ- all that talk of friendship makes me want to vomit
