For TG16 emulation, Ootake is my go-to standalone emulator. Much easier to set up, and doesn't cost goddamn money.

hey, retroarch. I found it while trying to get a snes emulator up on my linux system. It's got support for a good variety of systems, and a smooth gui. I think it's Japanese, or east Asian at any rate.

I use Unz and WinX68kHighSpeed for FM-Towns and Sharp X68000 emulation. They're easy enough to use, since both have fairly simple UI all in english. I've tried XM6 Pro-68k as well for Sharp machine, but couldn't find any image filters/screen smoothing options and games look a bit 'blocky' without it.

I'd like to recommend BizHawk. Like Mednafen and RetroArch, it's a multi-system emulator that accurately emulates games for a wide range of systems. It's fairly easy to use and set up, plus it apparently has specialized tools for TAS (Tool Assisted Speedruns). Apparently BizHawk is the emulator used by World of Longplays, so that definitely says a lot about it.

So, anyone know if there are any good Xbox emulators? Also, I want to nominate ScummVM for the list, easily the best option for playing old adventure games and it supports quite a few games these days.

So, anyone know if there are any good Xbox emulators? Not a single one from my knowledge, the only one i can think of-is whatever Microsoft uses to emulate Xbox games on Xbox 360. But even that has somewhat limited compatibility(which is quite unfortunate, as i want to try a few SEGA titles, let's hope, that Bayonetta and [fingers crossed] upcoming Vanquish for PC gonna 'break the ice' for those).

Anybody got a better source for FM-Towns emulation? I've been trying to play Alltynex on UNZ and keep getting annoyed by all the graphics issues (corrupt title screen, missing miniboss effects, etc.)?

So, anyone know if there are any good Xbox emulators? If it helps, a lot of the games were cross platform, so if it wasn't on PS2/GameCube, it might have been on PC, and they're most likely just young enough to still run on a modern OS with little issue.

Oh, I still have my original Xbox. I was just curious why it seems so neglected, even though you'd think emulating the system would be rather easy. Yeah, a lot of the games were multiplatform, but there's still a very solid library of exclusives.

Unfortunately, shogun3d-cxbx.blogspot.com/[/this] thing is the only XBOX emulator that isn't secretly some kind of supervirus, and it's got a long while to go before it's really usable for gaming. Still, keep an eye on it, and maybe one day it'll finally be ready for use. Also, question: What's the best emulator for PC-88/PC-98 and FM Towns stuff? Also, one last thing: Turns out there's a spiritual successor to Steem Engine by the name of Steem SSE, so if you're into Atari ST stuff, I'd upgrade to that.

Also, question: What's the best emulator for PC-88/PC-98 and FM Towns stuff? For Towns, definitely Unz. For PC-98 I'd recommend Neko Project II Fmgen. For PC-88 I don't have a clear preference except for CRT use, so probably not relevant. I'd suggest anyway to download the Neo Kobe Lite Pack over at Tokugawa and see what works best for you. fullmotionvideo.free.fr/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1614 (have some weird problems with linking)

What about N64 emulation? Is that still as awful as I remember it? Pretty much, as far as I've been told. I wound up just biting the bullet and buying the Everdrive 64, because it's kind of stupid that N64 emulation hasn't really gotten any better since 2003.

BizHawk seems to handle N64 pretty well.

BizHawk seems to handle N64 pretty well. I'd be curious to see how it handles primarily 2D games like Mischief Makers, known performance leeches like Perfect Dark, or games that do bizarre shit that crashes, like Body Harvest.
