www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=566I'm making a list of impressive YM2151-based music and I only have a few games left to check out (except for obscure X68000 games and fan remixes). I know TMNT, Thunder Cross 1-2, TMNT and Quarth use it, and some of the others do according to this site, but what about the rest? Also, is there a site that documents arcade sound chips? Edit: Used Mame and these are my findings:
YM2151: Gradius III, M.I.A., Punk Shot, Devastators, Super Contra YM3812: S.P.Y. Samples only?: The Main Event

Certain Mame frontends let you display and filter chips that are used by games. There are a few hundred games using that chip according to what I get from my old Mame Plus. This offers an idea how many there are, and that includes a bit X68000 stuff: vgmrips.net/packs/chip/ym2151If you know some of the games, you can of course check system16 for the hardware, finding more games: Atari - Paperboy Capcom CPS1 Data East - Dark Seal Irem - Gunforce Sega- Shinobi etc.

vgmrips is a great resource, but it's missing these games I'm wondering about.
Gradius III does sound like it's YM2151-based when listening to it, and so does Super C. I guess I'll try the mame route.
