I just recently discovered Yellow Magic Orchestra and it sounds really like early video game music, or should I say early VGM sounds like them, since they were pioneers of synthetizers in Japan and a couple of their songs were re-used as BGM:
I have no idea if this really fits with the scope of the thread, but it's still very pleasant to listen to!

Although not full songs, there are a couple tracks from the first Ayreon album, The Final Experiment, that have brief synth flute interludes which have always made me think of 8-bit town themes.
First is The Banishment, with the section in question beginning at 3:15.
Second is Charm of the Seer, which -- in addition to being my favorite track on the album -- also has the much more prominent town theme vibe beginning at 2:35.
I dunno, I guess they don't really sound THAT much like video game music... but for some reason, I've always associated them with RPG town themes!
Similarly, there's a section of the Shinohara Tomoe song "Happy Point" that always made me think of video games -- and this time, I'm pretty sure the vibe is 100% intentional, as it's preceded by sounds ripped straight from Space Invaders and also features Space Invaders imagery in the video (and also, Shinohara Tomoe was basically the Japanese poster girl for child wonderment and hyperactivity in the '90s, although Happy Point itself isn't particularly hyper; it's just good!). The video gamey section begins at 3:10.
(If the name Shinohara Tomoe sounds familiar to you, it's probably because she composed the more prominent opening theme to the anime Kodocha, called "Ultra Relax." Should you have any interest in extremely hyperactive jpop music, I highly recommend checking that song out too, as it's one of the cornerstones of that particular movement -- though it's not relevant to this topic, as it's not particularly video gamey.)

There was one song of a former Spice Girl that had this fusion style and was iirc heavyly relying on dance pianos. Totally reminded me of Sonic CD (EU/JP)and the likes. Sadly the only thing I remember is a fragment of the melody and a sung "DA DA DA DADA DAA DA DA...." If anyonje has any idea.

Emma Bunton's 'Maybe' - always reminded me of Space Channel 5, personally! Actually heard more of her solo stuff recently. For disposable pop, it's not half bad!

Dee Liteyears - No problemo! I've got this thing for completely forgotten pop songs from the 80s to mid 2000s

I was watching regional NBA games on Fox Sports and this was the opening theme.
Sounds like a Ys intro or an aracde fighting game intro theme.

Listened to Deee-Lite's "World Clique" not too long ago, and I can safely say it's the most Sega-esque album i've ever known (and probably in general). Every track is something you usually expect from likes of Yuzo Koshiro - "Good Beat", for example, sounds like a lost track from Streets of Rage with some added vocals, and "Deee-Lite's Theme" would perfectly fit in Jet Set Radio's tracklist.

The My Name is Nobody theme from Ennio Morricone totally sounds like the town theme from a whimsical Japanese RPG. Seriously, close your eyes and listen to this picturing some JRPG town.

I've been watching the opera Boris Godunov by Mussorgsky, and I think it would be perfect for this thread. It has a strong winter-y sound (or should I say russian?) and some arias and pieces have a very clear melody. They could fit an RPG or similar very well. I'm going to post an audio-only video because this one is the complete original version, but you know, hearing an opera is only half of it! Obviously you don't have to listen to the whole opera Some remarkable parts from Acts 3-4 (the video has timestamps too): - The choir starting at 1:52:58 sounds like a night theme, or maybe a hub world. - The aria at 1:59:04 could be, appropiately, a character's theme. - 2:21:33 is totally an FFTA piece. Some kind of battle in a snowy battlefield? - The orchestral part at 2:39:35 up to the choir sounds like a winter town. Picture Narshe or something like that. - 2:47:34 is a beautiful choir. Cutscene material right here. I'm sure I missed a lot. I'll probably edit this after I get to watch the complete work, but even at this point I highly recommend you guys watch it.

Does "music made to sound LIKE video games" fall in the scope of this topic? Italian composer Marcello Giombini in 1983 made under the pseudonym "K.Bytes" an album, made with a Commodore 64 of course, whose tracks were inspired by C64 games of the time. Meaning he didn't cover the sounds of those games, but made music that according to him represented their world and gameplay. I doesn't seem too great to me, and according to some experts he made better stuff with composing software before, but here it is:

Instrumental/Karaoke Kpop songs. I am thinking they would sound good in video games.

MAT101 were an Italian electronic music project (more specifically from Rome) active in the late 90s that made some chiptune-esque songs, like these two:
This video is stupid but it does look like one of these "fake 80s" cheesy videos that are being made today, even if it is from 1997.
