The entire genre of dungeon synth is this, most of it sounding like late 80s or early 90s CRPG music.

This album (also synth related) is a must-listen IMO, and there's a rumor floating around about how mort garson inspired the lullaby theme from ocarina of time... I'm not really sure how true that is.

Totally random thing I came across. I remember when Perfume had a lot of 8-bit re-imaginings, but this Cosmicvania motif for WJSN is pretty out there.
