I've always liked Super Mario Bros. 2, both as a kid and even now. I think most people that grew up with it also like it, so I never quite understood where the hate came from. As for Zelda II, I never had it as a kid, but did play it way later, and it seemed okay to me. Like, I still vastly prefer Zelda 1 and A Link to the Past, but I felt like Zelda II wasn't that bad. The only issue I had with it, which I suspect is the reason most people hate it, is that it's way too hard. The same could be said about nearly 99% of the NES' library, though. I don't normally say this, but I propose the alternate theorem that the other Zeldas are simply too *easy*. For me, Zelda 2's difficulty level was juuuuust right. Not too hard, not too easy, but right where I wanted it to be. I never felt like as much of a badass as I did when I first got the hammer on Death Mountain. That's one of my greatest video gaming triumphs as a kid. -Tom I love Zelda 2, but I think most people don't take to it because it really is more of a "hardcore" game, that plays vastly different. Any novice or casual gamer can jump into Zelda 1 or any of the newer Zelda's, and be entertained with the exploration and puzzle solving aspects. But Zelda 2 is about action and skill. Which is fine if you're young kid who has all the time in the world to play a few games at home. I don't think many of today's kids or gamers have that kind of patience to master the learning curve.

Silkworm(NES)-played this a lot with a friend of mine.It probably wasn't as terrible as it was unremarkable tho.I'd be picking up the plane, dying first(usually) and leaving a friend(in a jeep) to finish up the job .NES version had an ending as opposite to a loopy arcade one,but didn't have any direct sequels as far as i remember, only spiritual successor in a form of SWIV.

Would Bart's Nightmare on SNES count? My cousin had that and I used to play it a lot.
The thing is, revisiting the game today I still kind of like it, keep in mind it is impossible to actually beat, but it can still be fun in short doses, is that just nostalgia talking though? (keep in mind it's literally one of the first games I ever played)

It is beatable, but its definitely not worth the time put in to do so. Just keep them Z's up. But I would count it. What it had on its side is that it was unfortunately the more playable Simpsons console game at the time. But it was still the best game on the crap pile.
That also reminded me of Spider-Man & X-Men: Arcade's Revenge. Having a game that I could play as either Spidey or an X-Man? Dream come true. But I spent countless hours finishing this one with the person I beat Bart's Nightmare with. You have to really be friends with someone to put that much time into these things.

-Target Polish exclusive FPP game, its very buggy and unfair in single player mode. But its guilty pleasure to most polish gamers because had deathmatch split screen mode.
-Firday 13 on NES Ive had Love/Hate with this game, Never chance to complate but enjoying spending time with this game.

There's this SNES beat'-em-up/platformer hybrid in which you can play as both Wolverine and Spider-Man. Actually, it's a duo of game, by Capcom, Name escapes me right now, but it's actually not bad at all.

The only other game I know of for SNES with both Spider Man and Wolverine in it is Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems.

The Incredible Crash Dummies on the Mega Drive. I still really, really like it though, even if it's garbage.
Also, Taz-mania. Now that's one I completely soured on the older I've gotten.

Not a bad game since it used Mutant Apocalypse as a template. But I overlooked it for quite a while since it came out really late in the SNES cycle. I don't think I knew about it until the 00's.

Yup, that was War of the Gems. The (spiritual?) prequel is X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, which has very similar gameplay, though Spider-Man's not in it. Actually the single-plane beat'-em-up gameplay, fighting game style moves and platforming elements remind me of Comix Zone, though it's not anywhere as good on account of the inferior level (and overall) design.

Maybe Syd of Valis. I liked how cute it was and how you could change costumes for different attributes. I've always been really attached to that idea, and not just in video games (the idea of a special costume that can evolve in power with their user, like in Sailor Moon, RoninWarriors, etc.).

It wasn't a very good game, but back when I was in the single numbers, I rather enjoyed messing around in WWF Wrestlemania for the NES. And Super Wrestlemania on the Genesis, too. I was really big into wrestling as a little kid.
These days I can't sit through 'em as much anymore, if at all (much like wrestling shows in general).

This reminds that a friend and I used to love one of those N64 WCW games. I wonder if it was actually any good?

I used to really love Action Man: Operation Xtreme on the PS1. I'm not sure it's really "terrible" per se, but it's certainly not... good.
There were a number of Net Yaroze games I was fond of that weren't very good, too, but my favourites actually still hold up pretty well!
Pit Fighter was mentioned before and that's definitely one I can relate to.

I always played it but never more than 5-10 minutes before giving up. As well as the follow ups. King of the Ring and Steel Cage Challenge I think. But Mania was the worst of the group. I did love doing cartwheels as Bam Bam Bigelow though.
