Damn straight. I'm an unabashed fan of Crazy Castle. AVGN seems to have poisoned a lot of peoples' perception of certain games. I'm glad that my example served to further the conversation and raise some interesting points... however I remembered the game I've mentioned and was not Crazy Castle, but rather this one: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bugs_Bunny_Birthday_BlowoutI actually quite enjoyed that game as well, though I never even knew it existed as a kid -- didn't play it until later in life, through emulation. But it was fine, when I did! Didn't really draw me in, but I enjoyed playing around with it. I did notice the choppy-ass framerate, and counted that as a mark against it, but it certainly didn't make the game unplayable or anything. After playing Dewprism, I found it impossible to get into Brave Fencer Musashi. But I have a friend who absolutely loves that game. -Tom

Not particularly fond of Birthday Blowout, unfortunately. Just seemed like a step down from Crazy Castle, even if technically that wasn't a predecessor to it.

As a kid, I convinced myself that Pokemon Channel was a game.

I wanted to like Eternal Champions, but just couldn't get the controls down. I'm sure it's pretty good with some practice, though (and a six-button controller). INFINITELY better with a six button controller. And yes, it wasn't as 'straight up' as your typical one-on-one fighter. Believe it or not, some cerebral muscle needed to be used in addition to quick reflexes and combo knowledge because some moves depleted the "chi" meter and could only be performed when it was "x" amount high, while other moves could be performed at any time....provided they weren't countered or deflected, which the game provided for every character, a TON of different ways to foil incoming attacks...again, if you were quick, had the right meter strength, etc. All in all, I can see how your average fighting game fanatic could say "Screw this.....this is too much to worry about". But for those of us who actually took the time (and had the patience) to learn its intricacies, quirks, and checks n balance system, it was quite rewarding. Personally, I LOVED the game (both the Gen/MD and the Sega CD versions), was quite good at it, while my brother for instance, (a Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct master) absolutely despised it! Same could be said of another fighting game, Weapon Lord (Snes and Genesis), that few people really took to due to the complexity of the controls and the usage of logic in addition to the fighting action. Both games could be considered "bad" by many players (and they wouldn't necessarily be wrong), but I found BOTH those games quite compelling.

I have a love/hate relationship with RPGs in that I love to hate on the vast majority of them. Like Legend of Dragoon? See the trick is you have to have been there at the time. Turn of the century, the internet had two kinds of people. People who liked Legend of Dragoon. And people who had recently come down with a terminal case of the wrong. As a kid, I convinced myself that Pokemon Channel was a game. I know a girl who did this. She also convinced herself Sonic Heroes was playable and or fun too. Not sure what I ever saw in her. Not sure why I put these two points together either. I just felt compelled deep down in my mind for some reason.

I dated a bisexual, bi-racial, bi-polar vampire once. Once. It's a natural, natural, natural desire to meet an actual, actual, actual vampire!

Precision and patience was the name of his game. I played with different sorts of characters, but my go-to, gonna win this round/match guy was Larcen. Awesome combination of quickness, trickery, deflections, and striking...albeit he wasn't the most damaging character on any single hit. I also liked the secret character 'Blast' Chavez, the Vietnam Era vet, who basically was a slower, but more powered version of Larcen in the sense that he combo'ed, deflected, and had some trickery as well, but made up for his slower speed with more damaging hits. Here is a youtube video with my two favorites squaring off (if I did it right, the video should start right at the beginning of their match), if not, they start at 9:16 youtu.be/To-GWMH9rCU?t=9m16s

They either think they are vampires, or were in a past life, or follow the "vampire way of life" or some shit. It depends on who you're asking. In her case I blame it on the meth.

Star Wars: Rebel Assault. At the time it was the only PC game we had access to and we thought it was amazing, but it wasn't really.

Rambo for the NES.
Mostly because it was so accurate towards what happened in the movie.
You know, the part where Rambo went around slicing bugs and tigers with a knife? And especially the part where he turns a dude into a frog with his Magical Rambo powers.
