It is interesting how the look of anime evolves from decade to decade.

There are also some pretty significant differences between production houses. Overall though I miss the kind of sharp-edged look of early 80's anime.

I think mid 90s look was very sharp edged. But keep in mind, even though there are decade trends, designs still differ from designer to designer. I do feel like 80s and 90s designers were more individually distinctive than 70s, 00s and 2010s though.

For me it's art along the lines of Black Magic M-66 Or M.D. Geist Record of Lodoss War That sort of style.

There's no real style I prefer over the other, every decade brings it's own thing to the table and I like the fact that it evolves over time and brings good variety.

Interesting.
I kinda wish that things from Japan (anime, games, manga, the works) would be a little more visually diverse. Now, I'll take anime-style things over the realistic style most western AAA games use(d to use?) any day, but it's kind of weird how almost everything from Japan is stylistically similar.

I'm prepared to get punched in the face because to be honest, I liked Dragon Ball but found Fist boring.
It has a really catchy OP tho.

I'm prepared to get punched in the face because to be honest, I liked Dragon Ball but found Fist boring. It has a really catchy OP tho. Fist of the North Star as an anime is horribly paced. The movie version that came out in the 80's is pretty good, but the TV series is just very, very hard to sit through. Fist of the North Star is most brilliant as a manga. The original art is infinitely better, and the plot moves at a better pace. Even though each arc is pretty much two buff dudes beating each others brains out, and then crying and spilling their emotional guts out of respect for each, while the other character lays dying. Dragon Ball will always be a classic. It's basically the progenitor to all the current series. One Punch Man, One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, Fairy Tail, et al.

Yeah, the weird thing about the Fist anime is that they put all the filler right at the beginning, and somehow made Shin the long-term antagonist, when in the manga he dies in like the 2nd or 3rd volume. Imagine if Pilaf was transformed into the main villain in Dragon Ball.
EDIT- As for the topic at hand, I can't stand the standard modern look and can't get enough of the late '80s to mid-'90s styles.

Unfortunately, I feel that DBZ is a large part of what's wrong with shonen manga and anime today. They all follow the same general template now.
Fist of the North Star isn't a good TV series, but it does have some camp value. It's frequently very funny.
