My sister and I went to a Harry Potter festival over the summer, and even they had a Funko Pop store. This isn't a joke.

I'm personally disgusted with the way 90s fashion has seemingly made a comeback as of late, much the way the 70s were en vogue during the 90s.

All the EB Games/Gamestop stores in my area are basically funkopop stores now. They are placed at the front of the store and take up half the walls in the stores. Many of the actual video games are placed in the back of the store now. Sadly, I do think physical game media's death is looking very visible now.
All the physical game consumers have basically migrated their dollars to retro game stores now. Unfortunately, that means those ridiculous retro game prices won't go down any time soon.

funkopop is herpes for video stores. It truly is the quintessential American brand.

That would explain why my favorite used game store is still around. But prices are ridiculous sometimes. Visited a used game/vintage toys store a few weeks ago and in a display counter there was a copy of Battletoad Double Dragon NES in box for $359.99 or $259.99, I forget which. Can't really think of any trends I dislike currently but it would be nice if the furry and MLP fandom would stay out of my anime conventions.

Oh! I think I know of something that irks me, though I don't know if I'd call it a "trend". (rant incoming)
I really cannot stand when people play music loudly.
Like, it upsets me so much. It hurts my ears when it's that loud, and a lot of people who I've met over the years will play their music to the point where it distorts and sounds even shittier than it already would. Fuck I can't stand music being played loudly for no reason. If I need to put in earplugs in order to tolerate the volume you have your music at, you might be doing something wrong. It especially dumbfounds me because a lot of people act like they're actually proud of playing their music really loud. Like... have fun giving yourself tinnitus, I guess? It's fucking ridiculous.

I have very sensitive ears, too, but what I've come to realize is that people who play their TV or music too loud all the time generally have poorer hearing than I do, and it's not too loud to *them*. It sucks when you're watching a movie at somebody's house and you have to get them to turn it down because it literally, physically hurt your ears, but then again, earing better is useful in other ways. Of course, music has to be played at a relatively high volume, otherwise it's useless.

The current anime and manga trend. Back in the 80's and early 90's, there were are lot more in gritty, dark, adult stories with manly character designs. Now it's a lot of moe moe cutesy innocent girls in some kind of harem for the sole geeky teen character. Less this because i am one of those people that actually prefer comedies and happier series over gritty and dark stuff, but yes on the moe cutesy stuff! Particulalry because they seem to be mostly in the most boring, perverted or annoying shows like Isekai and slice-of-life anime which seems to be the trend nowadays. Jesus Christ, can we please stop having series that are all just sexual innuendos or situations, or series where it's just cute girls doing stuff and repeating the same jokes again and again, or MC's that have bland looks, personality and are totally OP from many Isekai series!? I mean it, most slice-of-life seems to be just girls talking and maybe some wacky situations occuring without being all that memorable or funny: For example, Stella No Mahou, an anime i started watching because it was about doujin game development...and it's so boring and with so little energy to it i couldn't stomach watching more than two episodes, i don't even hate moe designs like some people, this series is just boring, having the same flaws many other series do, generic designs and personalities apparently doing stuff that has a few mentions or references to justify the premise with the same jokes you have seen before that apparently people aren't tired of, granted this one wasn't very popular unlike New Game but still. Slice-Of-Life anime about regular girls is only fun maybe once, after that...why the hell would i care about regular high school girls, why can't i watch the lifes of more interesting people or other beings, for example, i will use everyone's favorite current comedy manga: Sheriff Evan's Lies, a manga set in the freaking wild west(meaning, there are no apocalyptic or sci-fi elements, it's literally things like wanted posters, bounty hunters, saloons and duels where people take some steps and then shoot each other) following the life of Sheriff Evan, who is famous for being one of, if not, the best gunslinger in the world and the shenanigans he gets up to thanks to the people and criminals around him, following him both on the job and outside the job. Let's face it, the life of a Sheriff in the wild west is much more interesting than the life of a regular high school girl, why aren't there more slice-of-life series with irregular people as the main characters!?

This has happened to my local Books-A-Million bookstore, literally almost half the store now is devoted to "nerd stuff" like toys, a whole shelf of which is this Funko Pop garbage, there's barely any actual books worth looking at now considering many shelves have to be to be taken up by non-fiction stuff like "self help" books and travel guides and whatnot. I mean seriously, the things are so ugly, why would anyone want them? Funko does put out some good stuff, I have some Steven Universe minifigures by them that I like, but they need to lay off the Pops.

I guess this is a regional thing? The Gamestop stores I've been to still have a bunch of games available on the shelves. They do have some trinkets and whatnot, but it has never seemed as pervasive to me as how you're describing it to be.

I hate how too far people have taken tattoos, two cousins of mine have tattoos covering their arms and legs and it just looks like crap to me, tattoos have to be the most overrated cultural trend ever. I'm also not a fan of facial piercings, especially those nose rings. Yeah, tattoos are what I was going to mention. So many people get tattoos these days that you're almost more unique by not having tattoos than having them. One or two tattoos is one thing, but some people just like to cover themselves in tattoos, and it looks horrible. I personally don't have any tattoos, and I'm fine with that.

You know, I'm gonna stand outside a Gamestop and take a picture of the front of the store this week and post it here.
