So, I've been trying to set up Demul again. Thing is nowhere I can find a bios pack that works with this, the emulator always asks for something like "mpr-23588.ic501" but all bios packs I find either has files named "dc_bios.bin" or "1_01d_01.bin".

Try this guide and use the bios files provided there.

That's exactly the BIOS I have. Don't work. Have you tried creating a completely new installation using the emulator (latest version) and bios from that page. I just did that and it worked flawlessly. I don't think your issues are bios-related, there must be something else you are missing. Try to follow the guide exactly using only these files, and don't try to fix an existing installation you might already have.

My installation is the latest version and fresh, using exactly that bios. It stills complains about mpr-23588.ic501.

Have you tried switching to a different bios (under Config -> Dreamcast BIOS)? The one I'm using is "Dreamcast v1.01d (World)" and that one is definitely included in the archive from that site.

Google your issue and the answer shall appear before you. I don't mean to offend, but I wouldn't be asking this if I hadn't already done that.

Looks like we're making progress This is probably a DirectX 11 error. Maybe check/update your DirectX installation and video drivers. Both can be downloaded from the link above. It's either that or your GPU simply isn't compatible with DirectX 11, which would mean its really old. Do you know what GPU you have in your computer?

Because I googled mpr-23588.ic501 and there are many people asking the same questions which have been resolved years ago. There's even a youtube video about it.

My DirectX is up to date and I just updated my video card driver, but the problem persists.

The results I found say I have to rename the files, but don't say which file has to be renamed to what.

Did you use the bios pack found on the guide condroid posted? Did you put the bios in Demul's rom folder? Did you set the bios path to where the bios files are?
Are you using the new Demul on the same folder as an old Demul? That can cause issues sometimes too.

I don't think he has a problem with the bios anymore. This new error is related to DirectX and probably caused by his Windows installation. Either that, or his GPU simply isn't DirectX11 compatible. Just google "create device and swap chain failed". There are plenty of people having this issue and they all seem to be on older versions of Windows 7 or have GPUs without Dx11 support.
