I've always preferred Dragon Quest but Final Fantasy I, V, and VI are some of my favorite RPGs. The first six games in the series are all quite good. The series lost me with VII but I respect the early titles and some of its spin offs are great, like Tactics, Theatrhythm, and Dragon Quest Monsters: Final Fantasy Edition World of Final Fantasy.
