So uh about the topic on hand, I like Unikitty's spinoff. I think it is a funny cartoon. Cannot say it will attract the same kind of popularity MLP received, I'm foggy as to why it blew up with ironic demographics in the first place. Unikitty is like a loose parody of cutesy stuff but the actual stories and humor is fairly neutral stuff. For example there's an episode where they are in a giant mech Power Ranger style.

I really liked like Unikitty when she appeared in the Lego Movie. I think it was that she was an obvious parody of the MLP: FiM (I've watched one or two episodes of MLP on free to air TV. Not my cup of tea, TBH) especially how she kept trying to contain her rage and act like super happy, and eventually failed and just went berserk. (I did get a laugh out of her appearance when she infiltrated the business tower...but hell, The Lego Movie is just good in general!)I'd never heard of her having her own show til just now, from this thread actually, heh. Has me wondering, does it play the character more towards the Lego Movie (parody of MLP), or does it just try to play it as a straight MLP style show? I hope it'd not the 2nd as that would be boring, for me personally (Tho I suppose it would sell more lego sets to little girls, lol. Nothing wrong with that, i'm an 80s kids, cartoons being use to sell toys is A-OK IMHO ) EDIT: Just watched some of the show on youtube. Not for me, that's a shame

I'm an eighties kid too, and funny thing I actually liked a lot of girl-centric cartoons--She-Ra, Rainbow Brite and Jem in particular.
It always sounds silly to me that all three have males meant for the boys in the audience to identify with, and in almost all cases the boys are... kinda stupid. Like who would you rather be, Red Butler or the girl who is just one romhack away from being the star of Taito's Rainbow Islands? Tho the RB movie introduced a kid who kinda looks like Mega Man, so there's that...
EDIT: If there's a point to this, its that there's nothing wrong with being more feminine--hell I think it would do a lot of guys a world of good. Bronies... they would be a bad thing even if they were into He-Man (which they're not, thank god, because I don't want anyone souring the best cartoon ever)

I'd still rather be He-Man over She-Ra anyday

I tried watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic on Netflix some years back. I got like ten minutes into the first episode, then stopped and never came back to it. It just... kind of bored me, I guess? I have heard that the later episodes are better, but I'm not sure the show is for me. It's kind of disappointing, because I love Powerpuff Girls and thought Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends had some good episodes.

I'd still rather be He-Man over She-Ra anyday He-Man only has super strength, She-Ra has that AND her sword can turn into anything AND her mount can fly AND she has healing powers and telepathy with animals.... (Yeah, being probably the biggest He-Man/She-Ra fanboy outside of He-Man.org I know way too much about these characters) As shows though, sometimes I feel like He-Man's series was the more interesting just due to the setting differences: Eternia has a lot going on. Etheria though feels like it had no history before it was invaded by the Horde. Though you could almost say the same for Star Wars or Sonic SatAM so depending on what one is in the mood for that may not be an issue. @griff - I remember feeling like the first two episodes of MLP were lame, but then the show improved a smidgin... that said, unfortunately its aspects of those first two episodes that the writers felt needed to be expanded on, to the show's detriment (namely, I never thought these characters worked as an adventure team/fighting force but the show keeps trying to shoehorn them into that role, which would be like if the girls of Lucky Star were constantly fighting demons or something). So yeah, you probably wouldn't have liked the show much. To be honest I think I only got into it because I was suffering from major depression at the time. When I overcame my depression, I started getting bored, and the fandom sealed the deal.

What's weird to me is how overnight the "brony" phenomenon was, I still vividly remember in the fall of 2010 all of a sudden seeing those Ponies everywhere on 4chan.
The show had just premiered so it really was overnight, my question is who was the very first male nerd to take a chance on watching it I wonder?

Shit. I used to watch both of those shows daily as a kid, but don't remember any of about Adora. Going to have to rewatch She-Ra soon!

I never watched them as a kid, but my friend had some special TV box thing, that let her watch this channel called Cubo, and they had He-Man and She-Ra on there, as well as some other cartoons like BraveStarr. I was probably wayyyyy past the age to truly be able to get into them, but they were fun to watch casually every now and then, lol.

Only 80s TV cartoon I've seen is reruns of Thunder Cats when they were on Toonami, reruns of Silverhawks also on Toonami, VHS tapes of The Real Ghostbusters I rented as a kid and.... Muppet Babies.
However I watched most of the big 90s cartoons people remember.

Ducktales and Inspector Gadget for me. I only exposed via reruns too, as I had a 90s childhood.

I used to watch Denver the Last Dinosaur a lot. Looking back, they pretty much put most of their effort on the show into the theme song. The show itself mostly hovers around only "ok". However, there was a science fair episode that I saw that was just awful.

Oh god. Between that and Widget, the late 80s were kind of rough.
