Honestly nothing special for night. Just whatever I am playing on handhelds. I like reading at night too, it helps me put some new thoughts to digest or calm my worries to help me sleep.

I second Lumines. Beautiful Katamari is another favorite of mine.

More often than not playing MLBB or Clash Royale becomes quite depressing So i play Plants Vs. Zombie 2 or any good fighting action (beat em up) on MAME

Castlevania. Sometimes, I finish Castlevania, then think "man all that Castlevania really got me in the mood to play some Castlevania." And then I play more Castlevania. Sounds like a win-win scenario! I found playing Project Gotham Racing 3 to be incredibly chill back in the day.

For me, it's shmups. I'm not hugely into shmups, nor am I good at them, but I do find easy shmups to be quite relaxing, and will often play them to unwind. Which is why I don't typically like the super-hard shmups that other people seem to love, but DO enjoy the super-easy ones that other people often dismiss. Shmups with a difficulty select are my favorites, actually, and I always play on the easiest possible difficulty. -Tom

I also don't really play typical casual or meant to be relaxing games (like Flower) to get my mind off things, I just get bored and start thinking about other things. I suppose the closest to one that I would play would be SimCity 2000.

Lego games. Easy to pick up and there’s no pressure as you really can’t fail those games. Call of Duty type games, especially those released for the xbox 360. Easy to pick up and just shoot your way through levels with little to no difficulty. And lately, Fallout 4. After a long, hard day at work I tend to jump into this and explore and hit up some random side quests. 2 1/2 years and 106 hours into it and I still have plenty to do.

Racing games! I loved Midnight Club 2's cruising mode, I used to spend a lot of time just driving around the city. Most recently (though sadly I don't have it anymore), I started Driveclub, picked time trial in one of the looong A to B tracks, added some light rain, and patiently drove to the other end.
To a lesser extent, shmups, not unlike wyrdwad, though I do not mind bullet hell games. For arcade games I usually have several save states lying around, so I'll just pick a random stage and play it.

F-Zero, Top Gear, and Star Fox for the SNES. I know those games so well that I find them quite relaxing.

Normally I play pinball games to relax myself. Simple arcade games such as Pang also work very well.

Any open world game large enough to instill long travel times is great for me, especially if it has cars. Occasionally I do just want to go have a nice long road trip without having to actually go anywhere, so games like Fuel, Just Cause 2, or Ghost Recon Wildlands really satisfy that for me. I might suck at driving (don't even have my license) but that won't stop me from just going for a drive.
Alternately, there's Tetrisphere - put it in Practice mode (timer is disabled in this mode) with a goal of 99 cores revealed, set music to Azule Lux, Martist, or any of the Easter egg Game Boy songs, and just while away the moments engineering the longest damn combo you can without fear of the scary timer warning sound.

I forgot Dungeon Crawlers. Grinding levels, mapping floors, good low brain activity fun!
