Is this the right place to whine about Shin Megami Tensei if... still not being translated after a millenia and a half in internet years?

Probably not, Gideon Zhi has said it's been hellish because the game is held together by digital duct tape and it's a gigantic pain in the ass to test due to all of the different routes. I know he's this close to cancelling it since people keep being dicks about it on Twitter and elsewhere.

The briefly aforementioned Linda3 is one I'm really interested in. The art in the anime cutscenes and concept art is so nuts. Kowloon's Gate if you count it as an RPG. And the obscure fucked up Dreamcast RPG deSPIRIA. All crazy interesting games that will probably never, ever be translated. (sob) Kowloon's Gate is definitely not a RPG, but it'd be at least as much work to translate. I totally agree with you that it would be great to see translated. Sounds like a fascinating, unique game.

It's still a weird jrpg that isn't available in english yet either way Like, no disrespect meant to Gideon's project in particular, it just absolutely is still a shame that there isn't an english version regardless of who's doing it.

Pretty much. I wasn't refering to the AGTP project's slowness in particular. I don't think I've read about any fantranslation released for an Atlus game that didn't mention how the hacking of said game was an absolute bitch. I do believe that was even the reason the PS2 MegaTens took a while to be put on PSN, since they even had problems running on the emulator's engine.

Not directly related to Megaten, but apparently emulators in general have a real problem with Maken Shao for the PS2. There was a time (dunno if it's still up) where it was on the European PSN for PS3 and it even came with a disclaimer saying that there were graphical glitches and to just roll with them.

No, Midas Entertainment doesn't have the license. I asked once Ghostlight, since both companies are almost neighbours. It cannot be found in the ps3 psn store. -- I am surprised that SMT If fantranslation had such issues, because it shares assets from SMT 2 and other stuff. I would nominate Igarashis JRPG: Elder Gate. I mean, it was published by Konami and it is still really unknown. It also had a weird world map mechanic, but the gameplay was really mediocre. I still could not find the char designer of the game. Another one: Favourite Dear - Enkan no Monogatari, it is a SRPG with NEC PC visuals. Ones of dozens unknown RPG PS1 games.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Wachenroder. (And probably some stuff that's in the Obscurities book, like Tengai Makyou IV.)
On a related note, Alice in Cyberland. It's more of a visual novel that happens to have (very simple) RPG combat in it, but it's really cool. Written by the Lain writer, with which it shares a lot of names/concepts. It's like a magical girl cyberpunk story, there's a lot of effort put into it, and I think it's the only game ever made by its developer, after which they went bankrupt. The writer uploaded the scripts he wrote for the cancelled sequel online for free. (Also, it has a very unambiguous lesbian event in it, apparently.)

I still could not find the char designer of the game. Junko Taguchi You are a magician. I tried to find a name since ages. The only thing that I got was Studio Gonzo. Nice, I will try to find what else he did. Yours sincerely Jack Caeylin

Was there ever a translation released for Langrisser 4 and 5?
Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan. Seems a bit obscure to get a fan translation.
Rokudenashi Blues, for the Famicom. Even more super niche of a fan base, for this super under rated Shonen Jump manga.
