Hello. I've been trying to play the SEGA Saturn version of Sonic 3D Blast via the SSF emulator (from what I understand, the best emulator for straight up playing Saturn games, and Yabause isn't 100% compatible with 3D Blast), but I've not been able to do so.
The intro sequence plays, the title screen displays, but it goes to black when I press start, and I don't know what the problem is.
I'm using a .bin and .CUE file to run the game. Apparently, the CUE sheet might have something to do with it, so here's the CUE sheet for reference:
If you can help me out, please be as thorough as you possibly can. I've never emulated a Saturn game before, so feel free to treat me like a moron and go through each and every step if you can.
I need all the help I can get, and I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

1) Just to make sure we are on the same page, download this Sonic 3D here www.emuparadise.me/Sega_Saturn_ISOs/Sonic_3D_Blast_(U)/405-download2) Download the latest SSF version from the official site: www.geocities.jp/mj3kj8o5/ssf/index.htmlIt's the link that says Ver0.12 beta R4. Even though that's the last build, there is a test build on the second link that is more advanced but could have more (or less) bugs. Use that one if the first doesn't work with the game. 3) To play the game you need a disc drive emulator. The most popular one is Daemon's Tools Lite. Once you install that, select what drive you want to assign to your virtual disc drive. Your PC's hard drive is usually Drive C. If you have a DVD drive, then that's usually Drive E. So assign Drive F or something after E. Once that's done, you have to "mount" the .cue file in that drive. by the way, you never mount the .bin/.iso, it's always the .cue. Usually the Daemon's Tool icon will be on the lower-right, just click on it and add the image (.cue). 4) Open emulator, go to Options, EZ Setting and pick Standard Compatibility. Go to options again, pick Peripheral and do several things. First add the Saturn bios (you can find it in the same emuparadise page). Then select the CD/DVD drive. If you already have a real DVD drive, then there will be two options. Usually the virtual drive is the 2nd one. Then select the Area code. Since the game you want is USA, then use that area. Save options. Close the emulator. If everything was done correctly, when you open the emu, it should auto load the game you already mounted.

Some Daemon's troubleshooting just in case.
If it asks you what type of drive do you want, select "DT". Ignore "SCSI".

Do I need to install Daemon Tools LITE? Because I've heard that it's got adware and malware, which I'd rather not have on the computer since it's a shared computer that we've been using for the last eight years.

Yes you need to install it, and no it doesn't have what you say. I mean, when installing read the steps and if there's a step that asks you to install a toolbar or something, then just select "no" and continue with the installation.
Or if you have any other Virtual Drive program, then you can use that one too. I mentioned Daemon because it's simple, to the point, and the most popular one.
Actually, how did you even run Sonic 3D Blast on SSF in the first place? You NEED a virtual drive to run a cue/bin.

Always mount the .cue
That's why the game probably didn't play correctly.

Virtual CloneDrive won't let me mount the .cue file, for whatever reason. And when I tried to download Daemon Tools LITE, my computer gave a warning that it could be harmful (which it had never done before, so I decided to be cautious and discarded it).
What can I do?

When you say it doesn't let you, you mean you can't even select the .cue or that you mount it but you get an error? Did you download the new Sonic file from the link I posted? If not, then do, and mount the .cue This is the Daemon's I've been using for a million years www.sendspace.com/file/t6oaivIt doesn't have any ads, and if it asks you to install a toolbar or something, then just say no.

Mednafen does Saturn better than SSF, and you don't need a virtual drive. Just grab a frontend, read a tutorial and you're good.

SSF is just fine. That's what I use and I've never had any issues. Mednafen is not a user-friend emulator. He hasn't been able to load a .cue file properly and you're expecting him to read a tutorial to use an emulator?

If not, then do, and mount the .cue First off, I'd like to apologize for constantly forgetting information that I should have laid out in the first post, instead of having to clear up confusions to help you give me better advice. No, it may not seem like much, but I feel bad that I'm asking people to be as thorough as they possibly can, when I keep leaving things out. With that in mind, I had downloaded the Saturn version of 3D Blast from emuparadise when I started trying to emulate it, so I believe I have the right file. Secondly, I try to mount the .cue but I get an error message. (For extra info: it allows me to run the .bin file, and as I said in the initial post before I started this thread, I was able to get as far as the title screen - so it seems to work okay with .bin files, though maybe for games besides 3D Blast). Maybe there's something I'm missing.

Well, if you are using the .cue from emuparadise, then that's not the problem. I downloaded it just to be sure I was giving you 100% good info and I was able to mount the .cue and play the game just fine.
Did you try the two SSF emulator versions I told you about? You never even said what version you are using.
I think you need to get rid of that virtual drive program and install Daemon's Tools. I linked to the version I use, so you should have no issues.

I linked to the version I use, so you should have no issues. Again, I really need to remember to say these things. (groans with self-frustration) Sorry about that. Anyhow, the version of SSF is Version 0.12 beta R4 (the folder name also has 916 written in, but I don't know if that means this is the second version or it's just a random detail). Either way, it's the one you suggested. I'll get to installing Daemon's Tools in a bit.

I'm using the Test version myself because it has more options (and better compatibility) than that last official release.
