Original KOTOR is perfectly fine. It hasn't aged well by this point, but it works very well for what it is: a stock Star Wars story that you get to live through. Sith Lords, though. Damn. People be trippin if they seriously didn't like this back at release.

I remember thinking the original's twist was really neat at the time.

The Revan thing was, but Bastila going dark side was just Lady Aribeth recycled. Think they even had the same voice actress?

The Revan thing was actually pretty effective for me since I played as a female character so it was doubly surprising to me since you assumed Revan was male.

I assume the author meant "dummied"?

People were actually surprised by Revan??? That was so insanely obvious right from the beginning. That might be the only time I have rolled my eyes at a plot "twist".

Keep in mind I was 13 at the time I played KOTOR lol But like I said, I had picked a female character so I just never expected Revan to be anything but a male villain like Palpatine, Dooku, Vader etc

In general though, "Revan disappeared" plus "mysterious amnesiac" seemed obvious from the get go.

It seems really obvious in retrospect, but it still caught me by surprise.

The only problem with Sith Lords was that it was obvious that the end had been rushed. Up until the last like 1/4 of the game it was an improvment on KOTOR in every way.
