From the Steam page, it looks like the VR support is optional. Cool, will have to try it out then.
Anyways, just found that Jeff Minter is working on a little game called Tempest 4000 that will be coming to PC, there is even a video of some gamer playing the first(tutorial) levels of the game: I guess this makes up for TxK being a Vita exclusive?
The best thing about T4K is that its not only going to include the original cartridge soundtrack of T2K but it's also going to include the unused songs from that same version as well! They were cut due to space constrains in the Jaguar version:

Ohh, that's freaking awesome!
That's just making me even more excited for that game, man, it's awesome seeing old arcade games coming back...even if most sites don't talk about them or the recent more arcadey games.

Sadly, i don't have the money nor space to buy a PCB Kit and set up a way of playing it, i get what they are trying to do, but damn, i wish they would get rid of the "arcade only" mentality and release it on other platforms because it looks great and not every place has arcades, i sure as hell live in a town with zero arcades, and yes, i have searched on Google and the internet to see if there is any arcade where i live and nope.
So yeah, Skycurser is a niche game in a niche genre, only for shmup fans...who have arcades near them or have the money or equipment to run said arcade games in their home.

Maybe, and good for the collectors, but i don't see myself playing this game unless it gets a port in the future.
It looks good, but just the Pro Kit cost 899,99 dollars(and it's the cheapest one!), i could buy any modern console and some games with that money instead!
And get games on their digital stores, and there are ports or arcade compilations in them, heck, the Switch has a Namco Museum title!
It's strictly for collectors with money and people who are lucky to live near arcades, better yet, arcades who are willing to look for new games, buy them, and put them in their stores, because not all arcades will have Skycurser.
It's a niche title in a niche genre that most people won't be able to play unless it gets a port, but they don't seem to keen on that idea as far as i know.

Found this cheap and fun game on Steam called Neo Neo Very minimalistic, but it basically plays as an endless runer with gameplay that is a mix of Hotline Miami and SUPERHOT, only with the ability to warp towards enemies and possess them and their weapons as well.
Basically, just run away from the flood, posssess enemies for points and then kill others to obtain more points(you can't get points for killing enemies in your original form), it's fast paced, cheap, and fun, a good "one more run" kind of game.
Fight'N Rage While the designs of female characters aren't the best, this is a really damn good beat'em up, it's just fun beating people up, lots of stages, content to unlock, good music, this game has everything you want from a beat'em up and more, shame about the fanservicey designs though.

Don't Die Mr. Robot DX on Switch is super cheap right now for $1.34. The game involves avoiding hazards and eating fruit to defeat enemies in a chain reaction. The game looks like a lame flash game but got good reviews. www.nintendo.com/games/detail/dont-die-mr-robot-switchEDIT: Okay played this for a while and it's addicting. There's quick play modes and a mission mode where you have certain objectives. Basically avoid all the enemies, wait for some fruit to show up and chain up "fruit explosions" to clear the screen. Collect the coins so you can buy custom items for your character. It looks like it tries to BS its way around difficulty wise but so far it's well balanced and doesn't try too hard to troll you.

Fight'N Rage has quite a few bad design ideas in it though that hurt it. Like if you run out of lives in a area you start at beginning of that area which makes the last 2 stages a total pain in the backside even on easy thanks to some rather cheap enenys. Also you need to in the shop unlock easy mode and all the extra modes you can not buy unless you beat the game on normal. Another really stupid design is that you can unlock all enemy'as playable but only in a VS death match mode so the main modes are only playable as three characters no survival mode either.
The game does have over 8 endings and branching paths shame they all lead to the exact same last two stages in a row though. So its another one of those the dev made parts of it to hard and wont make it easier for other to enjoy kind of games.

One Finger Death Punch is kind of amazing, which is really impressive considering that the dev (Silver Dollar Games) is famous for making absolute shovelware.

Sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead, but recently decided to try out a twin-stick shooter inspired by Smash TV and have been having so much fun with it i felt like telling people about it, that game being Galaxy Champions TV: While the game is a bit less bloody and satirical than Smash TV, everything else is still there, lots of enemies, powerful guns, items, rooms you travel across in different arenas, and enemies that can easily kill you alongside some bosses.
Also, there is a levelling up system that allows you to choose between an upgrade to your stats, an item that will fall down from then on, or an upgrade to one of the guns that can appear on the level for you to pick up, and my God, fully upgraded weapons are a delight to use, nothing better than picking a laser gun that shoots small lasers before it is upgraded into a gun that shoots a big fucking laser that is basically a Kamehameha...sure, that one doesn't have much ammo, but who cares, it rules and mows enemies easily!
Seriously, this game is just really damn fun and i love it.

Another cheap but good twin stick shooter is a little game released last month called Akane: The game is basically one arena and said Akane as she kills Yakuzas until she dies with her katana, gun and special moves, and every time you kill 100 enemies, out pops a boss for you to kill, it's a simple concept but it's pretty fun and vicious all the same, particularly since you die in one hit alongside most of your enemies with the exception of the big guys...even the bosses die in one hit!
Again, it's cheap, simple and pretty fun, plus, you feel like a badass mowing people down with your katana and deflecting bullets at enemies.
