If you end up liking the King's Valley games, then I'd also highly recommend a few other similarly styled puzzle platformers: - The Goonies - Rise Out From Dungeons (which is actually more like Lode Runner, but IMHO better, so I figured it was worth a mention here) - Godzilla-kun And in the realm of indies, if you can track either of them down, there are three superb examples that all made their way into my top 10 list that I posted on the previous page. I already talked about BitLogic, but the other two are ILEVAN and Eggbert. ILEVAN is... well, I can't quite do it justice, but read this review of it and you'll have a sense of why it's so special: www.msx-center.com/articles/10/ilevan-review-msx-english-versionAs for Eggbert, the full title of it is "Eggbert in Eggciting Adventure," and believe it or not... it's the first Toki Tori game. Have you ever played any version of Toki Tori on any of Nintendo's consoles or handhelds? There are a gajillion of them, and they're all pretty good. But what very few people know is that the series got its start in 1993 as Eggbert, on the MSX2. And I don't just mean Toki Tori was inspired by it; no, Eggbert IS Toki Tori. Same creators, they just slightly redesigned and renamed their MSX puzzle game many years later and somehow managed to score it an official release it on Game Boy Color as Toki Tori, and the rest is history. You'd think that would mean the MSX game is inferior to the later Nintendo releases, but honestly, the MSX game is very much on par with them. It's a little slower-paced and less involved, sure, but the level designs are unique to the MSX game and are EXCEPTIONALLY good. If the game has any flaw, it's that there are only 40 levels, as you'll definitely want to keep playing well beyond what's there. -Tom To add something else in regards to your post: It's no wonder why the ColecoVision community has a affinity for porting SG-1000 & MSX games to the Coleco. I also refer the system as a MSX alpha, since its basically identical but a bit less powerful. Hell, two of ColecoVision's best-looking games are Konami games (Cabbage Patch Kids and Antartic Adventure, weighting at 32KB).

Surprised no one has mentioned SD Snatcher. It's a neat chibi JRPG retelling of the Snatcher adventure game. What's really impressive is the combat - you can aim at different areas of your enemy and disable them piece by piece. For eg if you take out the enemy's eyes they won't be able to aim at you. If you take out their legs they won't be able to move etc. This was pretty innovative for the time. Unfortunately it gets pretty repetitive and suffers from the usual slowdown that plagued the system but it's still definitely worth trying.
The Maze of Galious is a great but obtuse as heck paltformer. It's different to the NES version. We all know it as the inspiration for La Mulana. I recommend getting a scan of the PAL/English manual if you're going to play it as it has lots of critical information in there. You won't get very far without it.
Akin - A side scrolling mech/action game that resembles Assault Suits Valken. Came out late in the MSX life.

Akin is good stuff, but has a little too much backtracking (and this is coming from a Metroidvania fanboy!) and ends VERY abruptly -- it's clear they planned on making it bigger and more involved, but ran out of time or money to do so, so they just slapped on a quick ending and called it a day. Rather sad, as it's one of the most impressive-looking games on the system.
SD Snatcher is a cool game, and its story is amazing (I think it even surpasses the original Snatcher's in some ways), as are its dungeon designs. But enemy encounters get VERY repetitive over time, as every enemy of a certain type tends to be defeated the same way every time you fight it, and you'll fight every enemy type like 50-100 times over the course of the game. That's a lot of picking the same weapon and targeting the same parts of the same robot over and over again. And it takes even longer when the robot decides to side-step your attack to dodge it.
Still a great game, though I feel it's very slightly overrated. The incredibly engaging plot and great dungeons did keep me hooked till the very end, though, admittedly.
